New Committ...
P'burg' Yellowjacket T.J. Fatinikun (6'2 225) will play at BG next year at either DE or OLB. There aren't too many Div.1 quality players in the NLL I presume. Anyone seen him play?

Mid-2000's Anderson Animal
New QB commit:
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/vi ... _key=79405
A bit small for a college QB, but certainly athletic and has a decent resume of interested schools. Gee whiz, we sure have a lot of QBs on roster and now are getting another one ... but I guess a lot is better than not enough.
Other commitments:
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/vi ... _key=79914 - TE Alex Bayer
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/vi ... _key=77333 - DB Ricky Steele, from the same HS as Tyler Sheehan
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/vi ... _key=85091 - OLB Paul Swan, with an impressive resume of other interested schools.

Also mentions we received a commitment from a DL from Indiana, Chris Jones.

Re: New Committ...
While checking thru the Scout.com site, it was very surprising to me to see how many MICHIGAN kids have been offered by BG so far... Supposedly, this is a very strong MICHIGAN group, with over 50 kids already having D-1 offers.(from a variety of schools I assume). As usual, it will be very interesting to see how many of these kids ACTUALLY come to BG.Falconboy wrote:P'burg' Yellowjacket T.J. Fatinikun (6'2 225) will play at BG next year at either DE or OLB. In the meantime, it seems like more and more football players are committing EARLY as opposed to the usual wait and see game in Feb.

His season stats minus that last game were 50-107 46% 1001yds 15tds-2ints 174-1161 rushing 6.67 avg 21tds.
Absurd stats but he is from a smaller school. I wonder if AT and Freddie's success made it easier to sell this kid. Like someone said we have a lot of QBs now, but when you can recruit a kid like this and say we will try you at QB for 2 years and if things don't work out you can move positions having our starting RB and WR as ex QBs can't hurt.
He was also a basketball player avg it looked like just under 10 pts a game
And ran track winning the regional title in the 400 (50.42), Finishing 4th in the High Jump and making states in the 4x2 but missing in the 4x4.
Preview before last year
http://www.bucklandmedia.com/pages/arch ... views.html
Standish-Sterling Panthers
2006 Season: 7-4 (3-2, 2nd place tie NEMC); lost in second round of playoffs
Head Coach: Paul Walderzak
Head Coaching Experience: 26th year; 122-109, four playoff appearances
Basic Offensive Set: Multiple
Basic Defensive Set: 5-2
Returning Starters: Mark Stawowy, sr. (C); Ryan Proulx, sr. (G); Ashton Gulvas, sr. (SE); Brad Bialobrzeski, sr. (RB); Austin Collier, jr. (QB); Wes Dunn, sr. (DL); Jason Kandal, sr. (LB); Dewey Milan, sr. (DB); Ryan Donahue, sr. (DB); Adam Gulvas, jr. (LB).
Total Returning Players: 16
Outlook: The Panthers won their first playoff game since 1997 and, with 10 starters returning, hope to build on that success. But even with a good mix of returners, just getting to the playoffs will be an accomplishment even if the 2007 team matches last year's squad in quality of play.
“This is as balanced as I've seen the conference in a long time,” says SSC coach Paul Walderzak, entering his 26th season as the Panthers' head coach. “Just getting those (playoff-qualifying) six wins won't be easy.”
Last year the Panthers benefited from a forfeit to Oscoda and wins over Beaverton (1-8) and Byron (3-6). The nonleague schedule will be tougher as Beaverton and Gladwin both figure to be improved and Reed City and Frankenmuth – both frequent playoff teams – will finish out the slate. With NEMC could well be a free-for-all with playoff teams SSC, Tawas, Ogemaw Heights and John Glenn all returning plenty of talent, Pinconning looking vastly improved over their tough-luck 2006 season of close losses and Oscoda rebirthing its program with a solid JV squad moving up.
“There's no luxury there,” Walderzak says.
That said, the Panthers have solid building blocks in key places. Junior quarterback Austin Collier steadily grew into his role as a sophomore, but Collier, a threat as both a runner and passer, won't be taking anyone by surprise this year.
“Last year he was under the radar a bit,” says Walderzak. “This year it won't be that easy. But he's an exciting player.”
Running back Brad Bialobrzeski, a tough inside runner, stepped up as the season progressed and had his best performance in the playoff win over Tawas. Split end Ashton Gulvas will be a primary target for Collier, while center Mark Stawowy and guard Ryan Proulx return to anchor the offensive line.
“We have a good core,” says Walderzak. “If teams try focus on just stopping Austin, we've got some other weapons. We're very solid at a lot of positions.”
Defensively, Wes Dunn is the only returning lineman, but he'll be backed up by linebackers Adam Gulvas and Jason Kandal, who played in the defensive backfield last year. Ryan Donahue shifts from offense to defensive back, and Dewey Milan also returns to the backfield.
“We have a lot of work to do on the lines and in the defensive backfield,” Walderzak said. “A lot of questions to be answered yet. We have good kids there, with tons of potential; they're just not experienced there yet.
“The keys will be staying healthy, working hard and keeping a great attitude. As balanced as teams are this year, those things will probably be the difference.”

Video about TJ from perrysburg. He looks good. Looks like he plays a bit too high but has a strong base and a mean streak.

Note: After reading Ryans article a leg injury could be the reason it appears like he is playing too high.

FF, I'd agree with you on this re: the SEBO...but it seems like MOST of the schools are getting major commits "earlier" than usual...an article on OSU, for example, showed 23 commits already...when in prior years, they only had about 8-10 or so at an equivilant time. Seems like more of the FB players are following the lead of B-ballers...perhaps it's time to have an "early signing" period for FB in the NCAA?freefalcon wrote:A very big reason is the Sebo Center. I don't follow Indiana High School football. I live 5 miles from Brownsburg. I will have to find out some info on him and follow his senior year.

It would be interesting to see how many gems out there would wind up MAC/MWC/Sun-Belt schools if the big boys had given away all of their scholarships during the early signing period
