I read a comment somewhere else from someone who said anything less than a sellout would be disappointing. I sure agree with that.

There has been some great football here since Urban came in and turned things around and I come to every home game. But there are times when it is almost embarassing to look into the stands and see how small the crowds are.

I don't fault anyone for not coming in a torrential downpour but when the weather is nice it is still never filled to capacity. If only everyone could have been here back in the 80's (did I ever just date myself) during the Toledo game when there was a crowd of around 33,000. What a great setting that was.

I don't know how to get it done but it sure would be nice to pack the Doyt for the Minnesota game and all games that follow. The added revenue would be such a boost as well. So pass the word, bring some friends and lets try to pack the Doyt for the Minnesota game.

I'll be there! Looking forward to my first trip back to Ohio since '06. I agree, anything less than a sellout for this one would really be disappointing.

I plan on coming for the game with my girlfriend who just graduated from Mount Union...I'm really excited to get back to a BG game for the first time since I graduated.

I recall those days- there was a big time feeling-I remember jets doing a passby during the anthem-it was great. I also remember Chip Otten diving in for the winning score in the final seconds.

I turned my eyes to the sky praying for some kind of salvation only to see a lonely football high up in the air. Apparantly Mr. Otten, who had killed us all day, forgot to take it with him when he leaped over the defensive line. When I looked down Marlin Russell (or was it Mike?) was laying on top of it and the refs were pointing toward the BG goal one hundred yards to the South. One of the great games in the series and not JUST because UT won a nailbiter.

Of course I agree...MN from the Big Ten, prime time start, ESPN U, coming off a BiG win at Pitt. Home opener....

This should be a sell out...."should" being the key word.

Considering how many tickets have already been sold, I'd be very surprised for something <26,000.

You know, falconboy has a point. My one pet peeve from the time I arrived at BG was the lack of school spirit amongst the student body. And I arrived there riding the Blackney glory days. My sophomore year, was the "fat punter" taking it 76 some-odd yards to set up our demise in '94. I honestly don't think this program has recovered from that yet.

Anyway, I have noticed since I've graduated that the school spirit is 100 times better than it was when I attended. But, still, there is something missing.

My theory on this is that the majority of BG students are Ohio "lifers". born and bred. They've been spoon-fed OSU. So, they'll root for OSU because they are a state symbol. Let's be honest, OSU is a big part of Ohio. BG pales in comparison.

there are a big amount of those who are total (and I mean total) BG backers whether they're from Ohio or not. I would put myself in the non-Ohio BG backer group. I grew up in Philly, before landing in the Canton, OH area prior to high school. I have absolutely "ZERO" love for OS"WHO"?

I bleed brown and orange. When I think Ohio, I think BGSU. I'm a PA kid, and I like PSU (I have relatives that teach at PSU, I got accepted to attend there, and the first college game I ever went to was in Happy Valley), but BG is always my true love.


There are plenty of Pennsylvanians that root for PSU for the same reason as OSU backers, so we just have to deal with it I guess. Everyone has their allegiance, whether it's justified or not. I just can't get past the fact that if you went to BG, why not root for them? Root for OSU or PSU, but stick with your alma mater first and foremost.

I know this didn't really make sense. Basically, all I'm sayin', is root for your alma mater no matter where you grew up. If' you're a BG student or grad, get behind your team! We have a great tradition that gets overlooked (and it bothers me that so many people from the BG community don't embrace our history.) There is no excuse to not sell out the Minny game. It will be sad to see empty seats for this one. If it happens, I don't think BG will ever sell out a game ever again, no matter how good we might be.

And, just a fact (based on my own math), since the end of '05, we have the 26th best winning percentage amongst current D1A members. We can play some football. Come out and support it. We are going to get MAC championship #11 this year.

I'll be there for sure. Although as a student I get in for free, I think I still contribute to the sell-out in a round-about sort of way.

Teach your kids about BGSU Football when thier young, don't let them get caught up watching the big10 on TV, and bring 2 friends to the game on Sept. 6th.

Josh and Jake, the Freaklings, have NO love or loyalty of any kind to any Big 11 team...especially OSU. In fact, they both like the SEC quite a bit...namely FLA and LSU in addition to their total love of BGSU and the MAC. I started the brainwash...I mean, teaching early.

26th in the nation...that is correct. BG has a VERY rich tradition and history and we should all celebrate that. Let the OSU fans have their fun...I would never try to say OSU doesn't have one of the best histories and traditions in college ball. But they aren't the only dog in the state. That's what drives me batty...there are SEVEN other 1-A schools in Ohio besides OSU but you'd never know it by the way the media covers only OSU, in most cases.

Anyway, I LOVE being a Falcon fan. Buckeye fans are a dime a dozen...bandwagon t shirt alumni. To be a Falcon? It takes someone special. Forever Orange and Brown...ONLY. I will not root for another school period. Well, I guess I would...whoever is playing UT. That's just me.

I've been told that the AD was offering a lot of the different businesses and very large groups tickets at around $4.50/ticket. The UAW alone is offering each employee up to at least 5 tickets for free.

I don't like the "for free" deals personally... It's not just that I've paid out for our season tickets...it's that people who get tix for free have no "urgency" to go to the game....Weather looks shaky, other plans conflict etc. all result in empty seats. I'd rather have them charging the $4.50 per ticket. At least then there might be some, "don't want to waste money..let's go" attitude.
