Ali Alaboody | RB

Hometown: Dearborn , MI
Fordson High School
Ht: 5'8" Wt: 168

Alaboody is fast, quick-twitched running back prospect who will probably get more recruited as an athlete at the next level. He has marginal height and overall size, but his slighter frame is a bit rangy and could still have some physical development left. Hits the hole at full speed and can be difficult to get a clean shot on with his low center of gravity and shiftiness. Slippery to wrap up and keeps his legs churning on contact. Flashes good lateral quickness sidestepping trash and bouncing it to the outside. Perimeter foot-speed to turner the corner and separate from faster pursuing defensive backs. Displays good acceleration when he gets a seam and loose hips jump-cutting and eluding defenders in the openfield. While he shows good speed and quickness through the hole, he does not appear to be a natural, fluid runner and struggles at times with balance, vision and body control. Flashes difficulty breaking the first wave of arm-tackles; does not possess great running strength and durability is a concern with his marginal size. Overall, Alaboody could develop into a nice little weapon at the mid-major level if used creatively in a spread offense. Polished hands and quickness could provide great matchup possibilities in the slot.

I like what I see of Ali in this video. He's fast, hits the hole with a purpose and changes direction realllllllly well. Reminds me a lot of Willie Geter

Hummm, a great athlete with superior speed and quickness who just lacks a little height? Nobody fitting this profile has ever succeeded in the MAC...

According to the Blade, Coach B said Ransom's rehab is going pretty well and he should be playing this fall. Personally, the kid deserves a medical RS after last year. Hopefully, he can get one.

this guys isnt very impressive to me. but he could end up being a force on special teams.

I think most great RB's are usually not too tall. 5'8" to 5'10" is the perfect height for agile ball carriers. We need a couple smaller backs, but what I think we've been missing is a guy who we can count on for pushing the pile.

Maybe AT is that guy, but it'd be nice if we could get someone who really makes a name for himself by coming up big on 3rd and short situations.

edit: and by big I mean, can get the first down 8 out of 10 times 3rd and 3 or less.

You know, after 2006, I really thought Chris Bullock would turn into that sort of talent, and he still may. He had fumbling problems last year on a couple of occasions, but when he came in, he played very well. Had a few 10+ yard runs if I remember correctly, and he always seemed to gain positive yardage. I really want to see him do well this year.
