BG and Miami....could be a two horse race in the East but Temple, Buffalo and Kent State are all capable of winning the division. I don't see Ohio or Akron to be strong contenders in 08.

CMU is the fave in the West but my money is on Ball State. WMU will have something to say as well. And don't count UT out...they showed last year they can put up ungodly amounts of yards and points. Even if their D can get from horrible to not very good, they could be a major playa in the West. EMU is capable of beating any team in the MAC on any given day.

I'm with Freak on the West - CMU is the defending champ, but Ball State and Western are loaded. UT is solid, EMU is getting better, and NIU will be MUCH better this year. Beating NIU in Dekalb will be very difficult if we do not play a good game. That is clearly the better division IMO.

I think BG as a slight favorite is right on, but we need to prove that we can beat Miami and win toss-up road games (like NIU and UT). I am glad that we don't have to go to Philly to play Temple. Their D will be very good this year again.

Overall, I think this could be a year for the MAC to get back into the national spotlight a bit with some early season upsets. The conference is loaded at QB and WR, so scoring points will not be a problem. If the defenses can hold up, I think the teams in the MAC have a good chance to pull some upsets.

Not according to Nick Vandelay it hasn't

Don't really have any complaints about this prediction though. Temple seems a bit low at 5th place, but I could see Buffalo and Kent doing better than them. Ohio and Akron are going to be horrible, especially Akron. And I'm not really sold on some of those West teams. CMU rocks for sure, but Ball State hasn't proven that they can win at home, and WMU is flat out inconsistent. They only won 5 games last year, but one of them was at Iowa. Go figure.

Miami at Bowling Green on October 18th is going to be huge, that's for sure.

I'm not sure I like this new "anybody can beat anybody" MAC. I preferred the league when it was 3-4 teams slugging it out and everyone else stunk.

Being picked first should help the team forget Tulsa and recognize the talent and potential they have. If we emerge from the brutal non-conference schedule physically and mentally unscathed, we should have the horses to win it all.

Let's hope this year these MAC predictions come true! That is, with the exception of who is predicted to win the MACC. GO BG!!!
