Good story there. These cats never give up and each deserves the best SR year.

I like the fact Ransom is applying for a sixth year from the NCAA...

26 days....BEAT PITT.

This always confuses me. Wouldnt this just be his fifth year of elegibility.

2 years at Juco.
Hurt in 07
Play in 08
Play in 09.

Yeah, I think it would be. I was using the Blade's info about that. Either way, would be great to have Ransom back for another year.

So far as I know, this is his fifth year of eligibility...I think they're talking about applying for an extra year. If the NCAA approves it, Ransom would be a sixth year SR in 2009. While he was hurt in 2007...he saw action in two games. Participating in even one play burns a year of eligibility

I think Ransom might have also missed all or a significant portion of his final JUCO season due to injury.

He's extremely deserving, so I fully expect the NCAA to deny the request.

So wouldn't this be his 4th year of eligibility then?

You can play a certain number of snaps (No idea what it is) and then medical redshirt but like you said you have to have it approved by the NCAA.

You get five to play four. I think he played two at JUCO and one here. That means 08 is his last year of eligibility...unless the NCAA approves one more due to his injury in 07.

The roster on BGSUfalcons site just shows him as a straight Senior. So if that is true he would only have one more year to apply for so if approved by the NCAA he would only be here one more year (2009). Expounding on Flipper's post, he probably applies for a 6th year then if something happens to prevent him from playing this year or next he would have until 2010 in which to play one more year in.

A little birdie just told me that Ransom was redshirted as a freshman at his Juco school due to an injury. So this would be #5 and a potential next year would be 6.

Jason White was awarded a sixth year of eligibility at Oklahoma. It does happen occasionally. Hopefully, Ransom will receive a sixth year.
