Steve Sanders is absolutely blowing up in Berea. From Browns Scout.com site tonight...
- Where did WR Steve Sanders come from? Well, if you have been reading the articles pumped through the Orange and Brown Report, you would have noticed plenty of discussion regarding this WR about seven days prior to him becoming a widespread story coming out of Berea. Sanders has endeared himself to the staff due to his hard work, attention to detail and endless pursuit of his dream. This WR has done everything possible to become a player at the professional level - a player for his hometown team. This young man has a chance; he is versatile in filling a couple different WR roles and has the ability. As one coach on this Cleveland staff likes to state "technique and preparation beats talent". This is Steve Sanders.

No doubt it sounds like Steve is having a fantastic camp. With Jurevicius almost assured of hitting the PUP list I think he's got a real good shot to make the team.

Good luck to him. He has been close before and has not given up. I am glad he is getting his shot.

I won't start a new thread, but it looks like Sanders keeps impressing on and off the field. I feel bad for doubting he'd make the team.
Cleveland needs more people like him. He's making a big difference and he's never even played a snap in the regular season.

It'll be great to get to see him on Monday night...I hope he gets some snaps with the first team in that game!

That is excellent news! Now I'm really excited to get the Browns/Bears game on the 28th...just to see him and Pope. As one who doesn't follow the NFL much (Except for BG and MAC players), how has PJ been doing? Is he getting a chance in Chitown? Thanks.

Looks like Pope had four catches for 39 yards and eight carries for 17 yards in the Bears' first preseason game.
Garrett Wolfe had seven carries for 64 yards and a 25-yard TD catch in the same game. That'd be nice to see a MAC RB tandem there.

After what happened with Chuck last year, I'm cautiously optimistic as well.

Exactly as noted before, coaches like to talk up undrafted player's to motivate their players that ownership is more heavily invested in. But we all know Steve has what it takes to get a shot. Good Luck Steve!

PJ is caught in a numbers game with the Bears. They drafted a guy named Matt Forte this year out of Tulane and he has been impressive and most likely will win the starting job. Adrian Peterson (the other AP) is the solid back-up entrenched at number 2. Wolfe has wowed people during camp and his preformance in the first pre-season game solidified his position. The Bears also picked up Kevin Jones from the Lions during the offseason. He just came back to practice after having an injury. He's a veteran that has had a 1,000 yard season before so the Bears like the insurance he provides.
Most of what I read says PJ is most likely a candidate for the practice squad again. However, I thought you couldn't be on a practice squad more than 3 years in a row? I thought they had to keep on the roster or release him. Not sure.
PJ looked solid in his time on the field last week. He's due to catch a break this time after him being the one injured the last couple of years at cut down time. Maybe the injury bug will create an opportunity for him this time around.

Yea I forgot about Kevin Jones. That stinks. Hopefully someone else can use him.

On the way from from work this evening I was listening to Sirius NFL radio. They were talking about the Browns. I guess besides the excellent camp Sanders has had, out of the receivers fighting for a spot, he is the only receiver that can play all of the receiver positions. Jim Miller was all over that saying that Sanders is now the Browns third receiver.

In the PD this morning Crenell says Travis Wilson will get the start ahead of Steve in Brylon Edward's spot on Monday night.
