The Olympics are over, the Tigers are finished, and it is time for some football!!!
Simple prediction Pitt over BG 35-14.
I hate going against my beloved Falcons but I have to on this one.
But remember one thing......as long as Pitt has Dave Wannstadt we certainly have a chance to win too.

Since you opened with baseball, I should point out that the Indians are on a 7-game win streak. Doesn't matter much, but it's worth noting.
In accordance with my season predictions, we lose this one. I think we're close or perhaps even leading at the half, but Pitt's bigger lines wear us down in the 2nd half and we fall short.

My BG Loyalty is telling me the following.
BG - 35
Pitt - 28
My knowledge of the game and the way the teams are structured tells me different.
BG - 21
Pitt - 42
I really hope my first prediction is the good one but I think the latter is the better possibility.

If you look at the Pitt message board, no one thinks it will be competitive.
Brandon usually has the team ready for out of conference games. I think this game will be similar to the Michigan State game last year. Pitt will wear BG down late. Pitt will not cover.
Pitt - 30
BG- 21
If McCoy gets kidnapped before the game, then
BG - 21
Pitt - 10

Since GB took over in 2003, we have won or played pretty well in the first game of each season. I think that continues on Saturday. I don't think we will win, but I would be surprised if we get blown out.
Too much McCoy in the second half.

Okay, I'll go out on a limb here and predict a win for BG. BGSU wins 35-34 with a blocked extra point.

With that statement you're assuming two things that never could've been assumed 3 years ago...that our kicker will make all his PAT's and that our special teams is skilled enough to block a kick!

They may block it, but we get flagged then for roughing the kicker. Pitt then decides to go for two, and ...

You know me...cannot pick against the boys. In talking with the D linemen Saturday, they are ready to roll and see the challenge in slowing down LeSean McCoy. Michael Ream has put on at least 10-15 lbs for this season and Briggs is eager to get back...remember he was suspended for the GMAC Bowl. They understand forcing Pitt to pass is the best thing they can do....
Offensively, we
must be able to run the ball. Pitt has an excellent defense but we have a ton of weapons and if we can open the pass up by establishing the running game, we'll be in good shape.
Conor Lee is one of the best kickers in the nation and in his career at Pitt, is 75-75 on extra points and 30-36 on FG's.

That's about as good as you can get.
This is a game I expect BG to win...Pitt is solid, but beatable.

I never was good at pick 'em.
BG 38, Pitt 35
McCoy runs rough shod all over the boys, but we outscore them with our best offense since '04.
And hey, the Tigers were done in April, sir.

Pitt has big expectations this year. They never live up to any expectations. Year starts with a thud for them; a big win for us.

I see us hanging around for a half. As Freak said, if we can't run the ball, we're cooked. Like wise with stopping the run. Pitt's OL is very inexperienced this year, we can exploit that early on in the game. However, I see this turning into Michigan State all over again. We'll be forced to throw the ball too much and the Panthers depth will do us in.

Ah, that brings back memories of my first live game at the Doyt freshman year, the 2005 Temple game. Good times.
