Well, when you look at the replays and notice where the officials are, they were probably assuming the player was down and didn't even see the fumble. It's still crappy, but it could've been much worse (i.e. ruled no fumble).

The problem was it was the official that had both the view of the player and ball that blew the whistle. They official that had the view of the players back was not the one who blew the whistle. Good news is that it doesn't matter and we stepped up despite a terrible call!

You ever made a friggin mistake!? You act like it was done intentially...inadvertant whistles happen, it's part of the game...get over it and quit questioning an official's integrity!

It's a bad rule, though. The inadvertant whistle didn't keep any of Pitt's players from tackling Lewis. No player stopped because of the whistle. The rule needs changed to a judgement call on whether the rule hurt the defense's chances of making a tackle.

Esssentially they tried to f**k us and it wasn't enough. Our guys fought through ti ! We don't get calls when we're in the hosue of the BCS teams, we're used to it. The call was horseshit but it didn't matter because we were the better team today.

I watched the game last night since I taped it and there was a very quick whistle. To the broadcast crew's credit, they made it know the Pitt player was NOT down and it was clearly a fumble.

That was some pretty bad home cookin but it didn't help! The officiating was badly one sided.

Now that I think about it, that play was actually very similar to the play last year at Michigan State where Eric Ransom was injured. He was ruled down too when it should have been a fumble. Didn't stop MSU from winning the game either.

Threads like these make me embarrassed to be a Falcon. The world isn't out to get us...neither are the officials. Mistakes happen, it's how you deal with those situations that make you Champions! Play with discipline and let the officials work as hard as they do to keep the game fair.

i have no problem with the whistles blowing yeah i understand it was a mistake...but no responded to the whistle so why negate the TD. If we would have lost because of that call im sure i would be the only one saying somthing. Its funny how you decided to tell me to get over it... read the signature and you will know what im about.

Did the whistle happen when the ball was loose? If so, by rule, Pitt should have been given the ball back. However, like the phantom double play, officials will generally award the fumble to the other team even if it's after the whistle.
