I didn't see it mentioned here in my drunken sate, but our Defensive Coordinateor deserves props here today. It appears that he has the utmost faith in our secondary and we blitzed more today than I've seen in many years here at BG. This was huge as our blitzers consistently filled the rushing lanes and also disrupted the passer. It was clear that Stull did not feel comfortable in the pocket when he had any pressure at all; even plays where we didn't threatent to sack him he was clearly not comfortable in the pocket.
The judicious use of the blitz proved to be a a major asset to our defense this afternoonw. Congrats coach Ward.

Agreed. They kept us in the game. In the first quarter they lived on the field, but didn't give up. I know it is another post, but Coach Ward and the whole staff deserve the game ball.
Kenny Lewis, from Pittsburgh deserved a TD. I could not imagine what it would be like to score a TD in front of your hometown, but to have a BS whistle take it away. He had a big pick late. I DVRd the game. Awesome!

Coach Ward looked like we had just won the National title after the game. WELL deserved kudos for having the D play a whale of a game. Totally shut Pitt down after the first quarter. Love the aggressive blitzing and teh tackling was much improved. Our D was flying to the ball and knocking the snot outta people.
Do it again next week!

Awesome job by Coach Ward. The D won that game for us. To hold McCoy to about 70 yards rushing is a great job. That may be one of his lowest totals all season. And our secondary, with all the experience, they are perhaps the top unit on this team. Congrats to Mahone, Brown, K Lewis, and Antonio Smith.
Like I said in the first quarter to my dad, the right defense is being called- they just gotta make the plays. The guys were in the right gaps and and right there to make the tackle. After they got in the flow of the game though, they stepped it up. Great defensive schemes all day.

Agreed. The stats don't tell the true story. Sure they ended up with almost 400 yards of offense. But most of that came early, or after the outcome was decided. They shut down McCoy and created 4 turnovers. That kind of work is gonna win you a lot of games.
Again, Congrats Coach Ward.
