35 points in AP (34th overall), and 2 points in USA Today (44th overall). We also come in at 31 on ESPN's power rankings.

I've got beef that we're not in the top 25 and here's why...we beat a Top 25 team. If they don't think we're worthy of being in the top 25 after beating Pitt, why was Pitt in the top 25 at the beginning of the season? Honestly, if we're not in the top 25 after beating Pitt, they shouldn't have been in the preseason top 25 then.

I guess you won't be happy to hear we got only 3 more votes than Va Tech in the AP poll. :)

This is just how the polls work. They are an extremely flawed mechanism, and they aren't going to go away or improve. The best way to "fix" this early season crap is to just not have a poll until week 6ish. But of course, then what would all the "Internet gurus" talk about the first 6 weeks of the season?

If we beat Minnesota, and then win the impossible game on the blue turf, we'll almost certainly be ranked.

These rankings are meaningless until we're 4-0.

Why would we be in the Top 25 for beating the No. 25 team? It's probably never happened before. We didn't have votes before that game, it's not a quick process. Pitt wasn't ranked after they beat No. 2 West Virginia last season.

We could sneak up there with a convincing win next week, and definitely if we can get out of Boise with a W. Until then, enjoy the votes as they come, rankings don't mean squat until the end of the season anyway.

I am glad to see the love coming in. It is what it is, and top 40 sounds a lot better than, say, 100th.

Polls are nice. Win the MAC!

I don't give a crap about the polls. The only thing that guarantees a bowl game is winning the MAC. We could be Top 10 and I still wouldn't give a flying frogs a**.

However, if polls are important to you, celebrate and enjoy!

Where we are in the polls consistently can have a big impact on our program, so I definitely care about them, even though they are stupid.

Given the hard & fast choice of a top 25 ranking or winning the conference, I would actually take the ranking. Now I want to win the conference as bad as anyone, and I'm pretty sure that if you're consistently ranked in the top 25 the conference championships will start to come in, so they are linked.

But, in the grand scheme, top 25 rankings and wins over teams like Pitt do more to further the program. Publicity on ESPN is priceless, and getting it will eventually get you the talent needed to win the MAC, and continue pulling in that publicity.

I love the rankings as well...but I guess I want the MAC title more right now. Either way, good for the program to be in the spotlight.

You new to following football?
They realized that they had vastly overrated Pitt and correctly dropped them from the top 25. Only nd can get into the top 25 just for beating Pitt.
