Anyone notice this?

Watching the WMU game and Marshall game I noticed Jacobs and the receivers looking at the coach when they are offense. I wonder if the QB and the WR's have to know the hand signals. No wonder they are so good on offense.

Yes, that's the way they call the plays. It can be quite annoying to watch at times, but it's hard to argue with the results.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha .... did I go to the Temple game? Darn tootin'!
As my son observed midway through the third quarter: This is the greatest football game I've ever seen.
Pretty much says it all!

I caught a little of this over the weekend, either during the game or the Gregg Brandon show, but I guess there are four people on the sideline giving hand signals: one real and three fake so the opposition can't steal plays.
My guess is that BG hurries themselves into formation to prevent the other team from making substitutions. Omar probably has a play ready to go, or reads the D and consults the sidelines. Whatever they're doing, it seems to work...

Brandon has said that a lot of times he jsut gives Omar a few plays, and Omar is the one actually deciding what they will run. He reads the D and then chooses what they are gonna do. Not too shabby for a first year starter!

Here's my take...the call a play in the huddle. And I noticed this at the WMU game..took us a while, but we figured out what they are doing...
They set, then look to coach for "information" I'm actually thinking the other guys are giving the receivers routes (and/or changing the play). If they point, I'm thinking that means run the play.
It's actually a little interesting to watch...obviously they all have to have a great understanding of what the D is doing to be able to so quickly "check" to a different play.
Hope it continues to work!
BTW - can we find a few more receivers they'll have to double team!?

I'd rather watch them do that than watch Peyton Manning spend 25 seconds every play calling audibles!!!
As for some of the "smack" they've received from the media, or other teams fans for doing it, I don't care if they yell over to the coach and say "Hey, where should Charles run this time?!?!"... if they keep kicking teams around, keep it up!

Great analysis guys, and I do think it is quite an impressive offensive scheme (especially with a sophomore running it). Still, we might not want to go to far with this. I mean, we have to give Amstutz something to do! 8)

It was really surprising and annoying during the Oklahoma game. We attributed it to it being Omar's first game and a precautionary measure or some kind. Like it's been said though, it's hard to argue with the results. My thought is like the first one posted in this thread. Omar has a play, checks the D, and then goes to the sideline for an audible if needed. One live set of signals, 3 dead. I'm a huge fan of this no huddle system.

I don't think I've ever had more fun watching an offense go to work. Maybe the San Diego Chargers during the "Air Coryell" years, but this is it so far as colge ball goes and I've pretty much seen them all over the past 30 years or so...

I agree....this is the most fun I've ever had watching an offense...at any level.
Sure it can get annoying...but it's very difficult to argue with the results.
I LOVE IT~
