Seat Cushions

So am i the only one that was embarrassed by all of the people throwing the seat cushions onto the field? they were hitting players, press and even the recruits! If i was here visiting and saw that behavior then i would definitely not be impressed with the student body. It was definitely not a smart idea giving those out and i'm willing to bet that i won't happen again.

Yeah, seat cushions for students should be an absolute no no from now on. Students don't sit and shouldn't be sitting down anyway. You want them up and standing and making noise like they were doing a fine job of last night, just minus the idiotic seat cushion throwing. Yeah, it was embarrassing.

A handful of students were flinging those things. Can't get on the entire student body for the actions of a few. The ones that were throwing them were definitely outta hand...and it was embarrassing to watch.

I was sitting in the student section for the first 3 quarters before joining my family in section 11, and I can say I saw a few people throwing them. Students were cheering them on to hit the field. In fact, some students were going around collecting them and taking them to the throwers. Finally, as people started to leave, the cops caught some of them and escorted them out, but the entire situation was stupid on many levels.

1. Why give students seat cushions? I think I sat down 3 times, and those were for timeouts. I had my seat cushion wrapped in a blanket so nobody would see it to toss it. That, and I wanted to keep it.

2. You can't tell me they couldn't have done more than just announce not to throw things. They announced that, and then students cheered harder, and more tried to hit the field. Every time one reached the field, 10 more went into the air. They needed to have people trying to pinpoint those that were throwing them, and get them out of there right then. These students just wanted to cause trouble, not watch the game.

3. This was a case where we were playing a big opponent, and the Athletic Department went way out of its way to create incentives for students to come. So, we got a bunch of idiots that didn't care about the game just attend because they were being entered into a $100 drawing, or because they would get to see Minnesota. Over half of them were drunk and just talking on cell phones, and when they did pay attention, they chanted "Pussy" at the injured Minny players. I was honestly embarrassed to be a student, and thankfully I didn't see any of my students doing stupid stuff.

I've seen many things in the air before at games. Students tossing the little girls for how many points we scored, and beach balls going across the stands. I've never seen people intentionally throwing things at the team, and this was just disgusting.

I'm surprised it took someone this long to start a thread like this. I also was truly embarrassed by the situation as well. Nothing shows your a great fan like chucking stuff at your team and former players for your team  On the bright side though, atleast we know those morons wont be at anymore games this season

I wouldn't be too sure about that. The Athletic Department has a track record of letting idiots like this in the very next game, ie the "Kegs and Eggs" crew from a few years ago. They would come in at the last minute drunk as hell, would get escorted out, and be at the next game to do it all over again. Hopefully i'm wrong, but I don't think I will be.

I don't know where you were sitting but around me students were chanting at the morons to cut it out. Out of the 4,000 students that were there, there were a handful doing it.

And to be honest if you saw them doing it and were so appauled by it, why didn't you say something? Or let the proper people know? The vast majority of the students thought whoever was throwing them were a-holes.

I think he meant the casual fans who were more than likely doing it will not be coming to another game this year.

I was in section 19 I think, stuck behind people who were standing on bleachers up until halftime, when they left to go party. My family was sitting with me, until they couldn't see even when they stood up because people were standing on the seats. I would have let the proper people know about it, if any were to be found. The purple jackets were all standing down below, just pretending it wasn't happening, and the campus police only grabbed one person that I saw. The others escorted out I saw on their way to the tunnels. There wasn't anybody to tell, and if I had left my seat to get somebody, I wouldn't have had a seat. Unfortunately, that's life in the student section. That's also why I try to get front row. I can always see, and I know I won't have people standing on my seats...hopefully.

I was just assuming that these students had no plans on showing up to anymore games, which sadly wouldn't surprise me

Well I was in the front row last night, so just to let you know their were people standing on the seats, and thats what prevented me from seeing who was actually throwing the things.

you were embarassed... I think the masses were embarassed... myself in particular... I was more pissed off than embarassed... leave it to a few jackasses to make us look like a joke... as if the perfomance on the field wasn't bad enough, we have some complete DUMB ASSES in the stands who act like they want to be on the football team so they can get in trouble and just have to sit out one game... I got hit in the back with one of the cushions while I was on the field and I was more worried about my teammates because these same jackasses were tryin to throw stuff at us as we were trying to stunt and put up mounts...

all in all... I have a taste of disgust in my mouth after this entire day.

Are you a cheerleader, or a football player? I was actually very worried about the cheerleaders as well as the team, but more so the cheerleaders, because with the lifts and pyramids, those seat cushions could either hit somebody in the air, or get under the feet of the supporters, and could have seriously hurt somebody.

And sadly thats probably what some of those drunk jackasses wanted
