I enjoyed my two days in your fine town. A very relaxed atmosphere. I had a great steak and good conversation with the bar staff at Trotter's. I had the excellent Farmers Omelet at the Corner Grill. A beautiful day and evening for football. Everyone I spoke with was very friendly. I hope we return someday. A few things about the game that I would like you to pass on to your powers that be. If you want to be a big time program, you have to have class. One thing that we did not appreciate was your teams initial entry onto the field coming over to our side and gathering in front of the entry we just came out of. That is bush league. Also bush league is your little Army boys shooting off the cannon every time you kick off. I have yet to investigate, but it is likely against NCAA rules as well. Your chearleaders should not take up a position between our cheerleaders and our bench. Not cool. Finally, your player introductions on your big screen are a joke. It is fine to have a picture of the smiling players or have them catch a football, but having them mug for the camera or show a picture of their son? What does that say? It says " this is all about me - to hell with my team. Thanks for letting me vent a bit. Overall, I had a fantastic time and the outcome of the game was certainly to my liking. Peace, out.

The cannon did not go off ONCE during a kickoff...it went off after BG scores and the ends of quarters...Our cheerleaders are a class act and that's the last thing you should be worrying about the positioning of...my foot up your azz is more appropriate.

To be honest, that had never happened before and not sure why it did this time. I was sitting up behind the Minn section so I noticed this as well. It didn't look like any of our players really did anything to try to intimidate anyone though. I just thought that maybe ESPNU had put a camera over there and told them to run down there for some reason. I was as confused about it as anyone.

Again, that is the first time that has happened as well. Normally they just shoot it off after a BG score.

I noticed that our cheerleaders were down there when we tried to do the B-G-S-U cheer around the stadium. Were they there more than that?

Well, we consider our video board a joke anyway so most people pretty much ignore it. It's so small you can't really see anything significant anyway. And since no one actually goes in the stadium until about 5 minutes before kickoff, not many people see the player intros on the board anyway.

Wrong, it went off during our kickoffs as well. I noticed it and thought it was distracting.

FWIW, I'd never seen our team go to the opposite side of the field as they did Sat. Not even sure what the purpose was exactly. As to the Intro., I honestly enjoyed them as the players looked like they were having a little fun in a relaxed manner..this too, was different from prior years where just a "mug shot" type photo was used. I didn't see anything wrong with the way this was done...and definitely did NOT think it was a "me first-team 2nd" type thing.
Had a chance to briefly talk with a few Gopher fans...felt everything was "class". Sorry that you had a different opinion...but glad you enjoyed your overall stay in BG.

I don't know how I missed this...was the cannon still pointed at the field and everything? Wouldn't there have been a lot more smoke? I missed it completely.

Just kidding...I don't know why the team ran down to that corner...maybe they were lost, maybe something shiny drew their attention, maybe they were saying "hello" to the fans clumped in the corner. Don't know and in the grand scheme of things big, small and medium, I don't really care. It's not like they peed on the ramp your guys were running out on...although that isn't a bad idea....

Anyway..agree on the cannon thing. They were shilling for donations to buy a new one, maybe they wanted to draw attention to it. Whatever the reason, I didn't much care for it either.

So far as the video intro goes...for Pete's sake did you really mean to bitch about THAT? What's next, the color of the turf too green for you?

Actually, not orange enough. Looks like there is too much "grind" in the endzones.

In the past, there were usually one, two or three players that would run down to the SE corner of the stadium and they hang something on the fence. I have always wondered what it is. I think it is some type of player award or something. This is the first time the whole team has done something, so maybe it is designed to show team unity like the me-first player introductions?

Also, we don't want to go big time. We are happy with what we are, one of the winningest programs against BCS teams in the country! Just be happy you escaped with a W and move along.

First off, let me clear something up. The team did not run over to taunt the other team or anything like that. It is a tradition that have been doing for a little while now. They run over and put the sign on the gate that says "Lock the gates" and then a sign with the name of whatever team they are playing. I dont see anything wrong with it, as a matter of fact, I dont even think Minnesota had come out of the locker room yet. I believe this was the first time that the whole team actually went over there though.

This was the first time I have ever seen the whole team go over, but Minneapolis was already out of the locker room when it happened.

The large orange chain is something different. They have a big wooden sign that says Lock the gates, with chain and lock on it, and then it says the name of the team we are playing that week. I believe the chain you are thinking of is supposed to represent team unity and all the links of the chain hold it together.
