BSU has had an extra week to prepare for BG as well.

i'm not sure what to expect for this game, either.

we have a very young team, with a freshman quarterback and tons of freshman and sophomore starters on both sides of the ball. at one point during the Idaho State game, all 11 players on the field were freshmen.

many of us don't know what to expect from the Falcons, but i know after seeing your first game against pitt that we'll have our hands full. the ISU game was just a warm-up, and BGSU will be our first solid test.

for those of you who came to the game a couple of years ago, you may notice a couple of differences in our stadium. first, we just completed a new press/luxury box tower that adds about 2,000 seats to the stadium. second, we just installed new turf this summer (yes, it's still a lovely shade of blue), so the surface may be a little slick.

here's hoping for a great game against two class programs. for those of you making the trip, have a safe journey, and have fun in boise!

So we are a 16.5 dog, anyone else liking that as much as I do? I'm not gonna ML that, but I don't see us turning the ball over 5 times again, thus keeping us in it.

I feel about this game the same way I felt going into the Minny game. The team that plays Pitt shows up, this game will be interesting late. If the offense plays for four quarters, this game will be good. If we HOLD ONTO THE BALL, I'm looking forward to a great game on the blue. But of course if the team that played Minny shows up, losing by 16.5 might be a gift. Personally, if I was a gambling man, I'd take BG to beat the spread. Even if we don't win, I think it will be close.

So BSU installed a new surface, and the NCAA let you keep it blue? I am sort of surprised they allowed that.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I understand the NCAA allowing them to be grandfathered in on the turf since it was already in place, but I would think that by renovating the field after the rule was established, they would be forced to comply to the new standards.

I think that NCAA "rule" is an urban legend.

actually, nobody's been able to confirm that the NCAA dictates the color of the field.

according to what we've seen in the official NCAA guidelines, the color can be anything you want as long as the dimensions are accurate. the "grandfathered in" story is just an urban legend, it seems, just like how some people believe the story of ducks dive-bombing the field because they think it looks like water.

Alright, that's it, we need to make our field orange, now. Or brown.

I'll give those points. Your run defense looked atrocious at times against Minnesota.

And it looked fantastic against Pitt. Either instance is hardly conclusive evidence.

16.5 is a lot of points to give a veteran team against a young team, even with the big home-field advantage BSU enjoys. I'll take the points.

The BGSU run defense will have to perform better than against Pitt. Mainly because BSU is legitimately 4 deep at running back, headlined by Ian Johnson.

Pitt has 2 really really good backs. Stephens Howelling (sp?) was better than McCoy when we played them. Top to bottom, I would rather have Pitt's running backs.
