Alaska football update: Colony No. 1

Post by Schadenfreude »

Colony voted No. 1 in preseason poll
Tuesday, August 3, 2004 - by John Carpenter

Anchorage, Alaska - With the start of the high school football season in Alaska just 10 days away, the question is being asked is “Who’s No. 1?”

According to the Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network, the Colony Knights take that crown. ASBN released its preseason poll this week. Its pollsters are a collection of Alaska broadcasters and coaches, who agreed with AlaskaPreps.com, who last month released its own preseason poll with Colony at the top spot.

The rest of the ASBN top five are East, Juneau, North Pole and Chugiak.

----

Colony will open its season at home Saturday at 7 p.m. AKDT against South Anchorage. This is the first football game ever for South Anchorage.

SF,
It would be great to keep tabs on the Colony HS team. Is Magner's dad still the coach? Hard to believe Cole is in his final season with the brown and orange....seems just yesterday we watched him break away for that 38 yrd td run at the Rubber Bowl vs Akron in 2001...and he stiff armed a defender to the ground. Cole was #13 back then.

Cole needs 75 receptions to break Robert Redd's all time career mark.

GO BG!~
