Pitt Fans

I traveled to Pittsburgh on Saturday and watched the Pitt-Iowa game at Heinz Field. Hawkeye receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos is from Youngstown and a family friend.

I was wearing Iowa colors of black and yellow. I can't believe how rude and nasty the Piit fans were. Pitt won a close game 21-20. A game Iowa could have won by three touchdowns if they only had a quarterback.

The Piitt fans were taunting the Iowa fans the whole game and long after the game on the way out of the stadium. Some of the Iowa fans alerted security and had at least one rowdy Pitt fan ejected from the game.

I was tempted to drop a Bowling Green comment on them but I held back. Just wondered if any BG fans experienced this when we played at Pitt?

I didn't have any problems. I guess before the game it was BG Who?, and after the game the Pitt people were already 20 minutes on the road home.

My personal experience from field level was pretty pathetic. In the tunnel before the team ran out the student section was shouting all kinds of rude things at the female cheerleaders on the squad and I don't even want to try to start counting how many made comments about the guys. It was pretty sad, but EXTREMELY quiet after the game... Gee I wonder why??

I personally had no bad experiences. Some of my friends said they had some issues - like some Pitt fan going up to a BG student, shoving her off balance into another BG student saying "BG Sucks". Haven't really heard anything other than that but some Cincy friends of mine warned me about Pitt.

We had a group of kids try to pick a fight with us over BG sucking, then he went after the Brown too. It didn't really go anywhere thankfully. We were very poorly treated at that game. I'm glad others had better experiences.

We don't have a whole lot of room to talk though after the Minnesota game. Most problems with the pitt fans were with students, and our students were deplorable three weeks ago.

Only issues I had were your typical drunk fans yelling stupid unoriginal stuff as I walked to the stadium

We had a few issues in the stadium. However, after yelling "Welcome to the MAC" after every great BG play... most of these problems went away.

:D

That pretty much nails it for me. With that many people in one place I expected to take sh1T from a few goofballs, but I think we dished it out pretty good too towards the end of the game. We weren't being nasty though.

The only problem I had was some Pitt fan flying the double bird at our section as he angrily left with 2 min left... Some other dude tried laughing at my hair in a poneytail (Hey, it was hot that day) and I just kept pointing to the scoreboard. He left with a min left and, for some reason, never turned back to look. LOL!

Other than that, it was pretty fun walking by all the students lined up to take busses back to campus...not a word was said. Thought so...

There are jerk fans at every sporting event in every city. I am originally from Pittsburgh, so I was at the game with mostly Pitt fans. That didn't bother me in fact they owed me some rounds of beer. I have been to many Steeler games at Heinz Field, Paul Brown Stadium and Cleveland Brown Stadium. At Heinz Field I have seen some Steeler fans act like jerks, but I have also had idiots yell stuff at me in Cleveland and Cincinnati because I was wearing Black and Gold.

I didn't have a problem at the game or after the game in and around campus.

Cleveland Browns fans are the worst, ever. Worse than Wisconsin and Michigan for sure.

I have never had an issue in Cincinnati wearing dolphins clothes. Cleveland is bad, even when they had the same record as Miami 3 or 4 years back.

Detroit Lions fans are pretty bad too.

Colts fans may be about the easiest to get along with when you are wearing opposing colors. They were very very nice people.

Nicest fans I've met anywhere - Boise State fans. Hands down.

Pitt fans were cool. They were even nice enough to leave 12 minutes early to help alleviate traffic. :-D

I've got to totally agree with you there. Browns fans are a total embarrassment to humanity, and I say that as someone who loves Cleveland. I don't think I will ever waste my time at a Browns game again after seeing Bengals fans bleeding throughout the Muni lot AFTER A WIN last year. Totally despicable lot of people down there on game days.
