Not only was Fox a composer and author, he was also a founding member of SICSIC.
From the charter (at
http://www.bgsu.edu/offices/sa/life/sicsic/story.html)
"The group, which promotes spirit among both students and faculty, was founded at Bowling Green State University on October 5, 1946. Charter members were Richard Harig and Ervin Potts, 1947; Gilbert Fox and Earl Mort, 1948, and Max Hofmeister and James Limbacher, 1949. Frank J. Prout became its first honorary member."

The band forum thread is worth reading. It includes a lot of detail on Gilbert Fox that probably never made it into At BG.
It turns out that ol' Gilbert Fox was way ahead of his time.
I am prouder than ever to be part of the Bowling Green community.
Roll along Gilbert Fox.
