Thunderstix @ UT? Alumni Assoc. Help? Anyone?

So is there any chance that someone could step up and purchase thunderstix to be given to BG fans at the Glass Bowl on Tuesday?
Anyone know a member of our Marketing Dept.? If there are extra thunderstix, as there were extra "Beat the Broncos" ones handed out at the Marshall game, perhaps they could give those to someone to hand out at Toledo.
I mean , hey it would be added advertising for Moulton Gas and would give our fans some visibility and noise in the glass bowl.
Otherwise the extras just sit in storage at the doyt.
Just a thought. . .
If I had the money I would purchase 1,000 at the bookstore and hand them out personally....

thats a fantastic idea! At the very least you think we could get any extras the univ. has, and had them out at our tailgate. WHich I assume will be a big draw for BG fans.

We picked up some Thunderstix at the Marshall game. After we got in, my brother-in-law said he would like to get a couple more so we went to another gate to get a few more. The guy there had a stack in his hand and when we come up he said "Need some Thunderstix" as he gave us about 20 packs of them.

Needless to say, I have thunderstixx all over my living room this week.

I was thinking the same thing about thunderstix on Tuesday while at the BG/Marshall game Sat. I have a couple of packs saved and I also have 3 foam fingers from the Browns/Steelers game on Sun. If you turn them around, they are just plain orange! I will be tailgating in Lot 25 Tuesday starting around 4pm-I have a maroon Jeep Liberty with a Falcon Head magnet and Falcon flag if anyone wants a couple foam fingers! I wish someone down in BG could look into a sponsor for some sticks to pass out to BG fans at the game. I live in Toledo (yuck!) or I would make some calls. Sounds like a great idea if we can get it done!! GOOOOOOOOOO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have spoken with someone in marketing and there is a push underway to get the remaining thunderstix to the BG fans at the UT game! Great idea! More info to follow....

I have a few extra packs as well. The Freaklings love them but Mrs Freak isn't fond of them around the house.

Matt and I always save our Thunderstix, plus we grabbed 4 extra packs at one of the past games. GREAT IDEA!! UT fans are reportedly putting pennies in an empty bottle and using them as noisemakers.

As are thunderstix, cowbells, and wooden clapping hands. All artificial noisemakers are not allowed under NCAA rules. I'm surprised they're still allowing these Thunderstix giveaways especially.

What if I have wooden hands? Would I get tossed just for clapping?
What a bummer.

The Tole_ _ faithful say that Tole_ _'s AD has personally given them the ok to bring in their baby rattles as well as air horns.
I always thought that the NCAA banned them too...but I was also thinking that was only for NCAA tournament events.
Anyone have an NCAA bylaw cite on this ruling?

I don't know about anyone else but that line about "What if I had wooden hands..." has had me laughing ever since I read it.

Yep, me too. Good stuff, and a great movie reference as well...one of my all time faves.
Tom, as to the rule, the way I heard it described long ago was that ANY artificial noisemakers were banned by the NCAA for any competition. I don't have the actual rule written up in front of me, but I've heard it referenced during different broadcasts of NCAA games in the past. Obviously they don't enforce it, so it's rather pointless anyways.

I just checked out the tu board and they are saying their AD is telling them it is OK to bring anything in that they want...including air horns. Class personified.

I believe it's indoor sporting events where artificial noisemakers are not allowed. That's why you don't see them handing out thundersticks at Anderson Arena.
FWIW, wooden clapping hands include the clapper that the birds used to have. A certain assistant AD told us we couldn't use it in AA at one game...
