Anybody think this guy should be starting at the other OLB position over Sanderson. For one he's a lot bigger which helps our run D and seems to be pretty athletic too from what I've gathered. A LB corps of Dozier, Haneline and Basler could be kick ass. I can't honestly believe Basler hasn't cracked a starting LB role with his ability and size. But GB would rather take and undersized safety and make him our other OLB.

The OLB spot played by Sanderson is more of a 3rd safety...so, to play Basler in place of Sanderson you'd have to rescheme the defense or you'd be putting Basler into a postion he's not as well suited to play.

Actually , your right. Basler should move to MLB and Dozier with his speed move to the other OLB position. I never understood why Dozier wasn't playing OLB with his speed.

dozier played outside in 06 when twhite was still in the middle. then they figured since he hit so hard that they asked him to put on 20 lbs and move to middle to get him in all of the action. also just because basler doesnt start doesnt mean he doesnt get plenty of playing time.

And move Haneline to the sideline? Are you kidding me? We're fortunate to have a guy like Basler that can come in and make plays, but to suggest that Dozier or Haneline should be on the sideline in his favor is ridiculous IMO.

Unless, of course, you're suggesting that we switch to the 3-4. In that case, there is a fat man in Cleveland that will be out of a job soon. Maybe he could implement that defense.

Ya are you kidding? Did you see the game Sanderson had today?

Cody is a key situational defensive player for us. He had a fantastic game which was great because around my house we've been rooting for him (and scheidler) since we lived together their freshman year. Way to go Cody. Keep stepping up when you get the chance and good things will happen for you!!

He will help to make an almost seamless transition from Haneline to Basler.

What do you mean move Haneline to the sideline? Haneline still starts at the 1 OLB position , Basler in middle and Dozier at the other OLB. That lineup just looks like our best possible starting LB's to me. Nothing against Sanderson , but the guy should be at safety in IMO. Basler's like a Jr. now right?

WY still rushed for almost 200 yds on us. When WY got behind us early they strategy was to try and pass a lot which play more to Sanderson's defensive strength.

So, get rid of the garbage time yards and the one big play they got and we gave up 63 yards rushing on 24 carries (2.6 yards per carry). I will take that every single Saturday.

Must you attempt to point out the negatives all the time? If you were an Alabama fan, I bet you could find something to whine about in their first half performance.

Exactly Grad. Our D shut down the WY running game big time. One big play and garbage stats don't tell the tale of how our D really played. We had a lot of reserves in there during the 4th quarter getting valuable time.

Sanderson played a great game and so did Basler...the whole D played well. THAT is VERY encouraging. Once the O got going today, it was over. Our D is night and day from the last few years. I've seen a lot of solid tackling this year.

LOL. During the broadcast, they threw up a stat comparing the WY O line and BG D line. WY went 6'5" 300 lbs across the board and BG was listed at 6'4" 259....didn't make that much of a difference now did it? My cat Ream is turning into quite a disruption on the inside....and having Davis back shows how much we missed him. With Briggs, Schaefer and Magnone on the outside...looking solid.
