Makes us look a little better. Pitt climbing back into the rankings would do wonders for our perception.

That and some convincing wins over the scrubs in our conference.

I was pulling for Pitt big time after I saw the sign that one of USF's fan was waving at Pitt as it entered the field. Did anyone else catch it? All it said was two words. It read: "Bowling Green?" Yes, with a question mark. Clearly a dig on Pitt losing to BG. I wonder if that guy took the sign home with him after the game, or if he left it behind at the stadium like the Bullls did with their #10 national ranking and undefeated record? :) I'm still pissed at USF for backing out of the home-and-home they had with us a few years ago AFTER we played the front end game at their place. Sort of reminds me of FIU too. I also found it curious to see FIU was able to make it to Northwest Ohio after all to play Toledo last week. :?

The more this season progresses the more I like what I see from our Falcons. We have played some serious competition and had the chance to win EVERY game...IF we win out we might see the top 25....

I think FIU will be at BG next year for their return game.

I saw the sign as well. Actually, I found it humorous, even though it was a back-handed compliment. Hey, we got some pub. I think the announcers mentioned Bowling Green about 3 or 4 times in the last 5 minutes of the game. Albeit, they made it sound like a "bad" loss for Pitt. I don't care. We beat them on the field. I'm a huge Pitt fan this season. As I'm guessing that many Pitt fans are hoping we run the table. Both Pitt and BG winning conference championships can only help both our causes. How nice would it be to say we beat the Big East conference champs (even though I've always thought the Big East is overrated)?
Technically, right now, we'd be leading the Big East and can say we're capable of beating a top 10 team in the country. That being said, let's keep things in perspective. As Crash Davis would recommend saying...."We just need to take it one game at a time."

The subtext in all this is that the Big East, top-to-bottom, is probably no better than the MAC.

Exactly, also throw in the ACC in the conversation.

With due respect, there were NO backhanded compliments being given to BGSU last night. Indeed, building on the theme of the last couple years, the MAC is right back to the early 90s, in terms of OOC wins being treated poorly in the media.

The on-air commentators did not even try to imply that BGSU was either good, or that losing to a MAC team was less than a disgrace.

The sign was a slam on Pitt, by implying that a loss to BG was akin to being whipped by a 1AA team.

BG is not getting any credit for that win. The generally skeptical attitudes towards the MAC and our coaching staff/program after the bowl loss, home choke against Minn, inability to summon a better showing against BSU, and beating a weak sister at WY, means the Falcons are on probation respect wise.

Way to go, Pitt. As far as the sign? Who's laughing now? USF ain't all that...Jim Leavitt is an azzhole and I love seeing USF lose.

I hope Pitt wins every game the rest of the way...and MN, Boise State and WY (although WY is really gonna have a hard time this year).

Who cares how people see the BG/Pitt game? Call it a bad game for Pitt....I don't care. All I care is BG got the W and that's the name of the game.

BEAT EMU

I stand corrected.

Glad to see Pitt win last night, but the announcers even bugged me one time and I rarely let that get to me. They said something along the lines of they should've beaten BG. Now maybe they're saying they played down to us, but if they saw that game how could they say that they should've beaten us? After the first quarter we completely dominated Pitt, and the better team won the game.

The Big East is lousy, and Pitt has as good a chance as anyone to win that conference. I hope they do, because it only makes our win look better.

I saw that sign. Mixed emotions. I was excited at first until I rewound the DVR and saw the ? after Bowling Green. They got what they deserved. The comments added by the annoucers were disappointing. They obviously didn't see the game. We didn't win on a fluke pass or get lucky. After the 1st Q we took over that game. In fact several calls went against us and the worst call in all of college football, when it happens, an inadvertant wistle, that cost a TD. If we played them again this weekend, we would still win.

By the way USF? I'm not even sure where they are located. Miami, Boca, Ft. Lauderdale??? To me they are just another Floridian Directional.
