I was just perusing the MACbbs, and someone from Miami was saying how "classless" the "lock the gate" thing is. Someone from Toledo, no less, came up with a GREAT idea. Maybe we could "lock the gate" and keep the coaches OUT!!! Maybe we could just lock GB in his house for the weekend!!

Agreed. Lock the gate?!?! What “gate?” We aren't locking $hit against teams that come into Perry Stadium! We're 0-3 at home....if anything we’re locking ourselves in our own house or we’re a "lock" to lose at home as we have been favored in all three home games and outright lost! I agree, we need to stop this crap, if anything we're simply firing up the other team which is the last thing we need to do. I'm not for it in the first place, and maybe I'd feel differently if we were actually winning at home - but we're not. We haven't won a home game since LAST YEAR so why don't we change our little pregame ritual to let's get an f'in win in front of our home fans for crying out loud. Maybe the "gate" should be locked on the Sebo Center and Perry Stadium on our entire team and coaches.

I know some of the other Miami fans are a little ticked off over the thing, however I thought it was quite amusing regardless of the situation. Of course some of these same people believe that smack talk is only going on during pregame, that parents shouldn't cheer on the sidelines at youth sports leagues, and that everyone deserves a trophy.

As posted by Tricky_Falcon in another thread, "If that wasn't enough when our team runs to our sideline a bunch of our palyers proceed to knock over a Miami cheerleader that was carrying the huge "M" flag and stomp on the flag. One of our players actually tripped over the flag pole when attempting to step on the Miami flag". Do you find this amusing? I find it embarrassing and symtematic of the "lack of discipline" that has encompassed this team.

I think all of the symbolic stuff like locking the gate, the ball of tape, the hit stick, the toolbox, etc. etc. are silly in the first place. If you need that symbolic garbage to get you fired up or remind you of certain things, I think you're already behind.
I was in the Falcon Club tent during the fiasco and couldn't see everything that was going on. I did see the Miami coaches and referees getting in between the two teams. Did Brandon or any of his 47 coordinators go over to break it up?

Didn't see a cheerleader knocked over, I don't know that a flag was stomped on, and there is only one fan claiming to have seen it happen.
If there was more there, then there is more there, but it will take more than one person reporting it for me to believe everything that I read here.
However the actions of any player, is a reflection of the program itself and the quality of individual that has been recruited by the coaching staff. If you can't control your players, then you shouldn't be a coach, or those players shouldn't be there.

Nobody stomped on the flag, I saw the whole thing and AT was running backwards and as he was turning around he tripped over the flag pole...he didnt even see the flag...

The only thing being locked right now is the gate to our endzone! Why can't our offense light up the scoreboard anymore? Obviously somebody has locked the gate on them!

If you want to read the entire conversation rather than R4E's typically ham-handed mischaracterization of it, feel free to join in at MHT.
