Post by ffejfalcon »

Feels good doesn't it? :-)

Now beat the crap out of the Bobcats....

BTW...Anyone have a report about this Rice kid who was at RB today? Power runner or a speed guy? Would like to know more about him as I have always thought we need a goo RB to compliment AT.....

Based upon the hours since the final gun, I'm sure there are more people on this board disappointed in the win.

But I'm sure that's just my acute observations speaking out of line again.

We gave up 30 second half points. That is completely unacceptable. I don't care that we were up by 28 at the half or that the play calling was exciting and creative pr that we pitched a first half shut out or that the game was more or less over at half time or that that Kent was a desparate team in the second half and had to do everything in their power to try and get back in the game which they never did or that the halftime show blew with the singers or that it was much colder than I thought it would be or that I was happy we won at home.

I'm thrilled we won. The defensive effort in the second half sucked. More importantly the first half was upsetting only in the fact that we again see at what level this team can play when they're at their best, but we so rarely see it. Even still, I was just glad to finally see a win at home.

RUIT, I hope you aren't meaning in the word disappointed that people wanted BG to lose. I don't think any of us should be upset about a win right now, especially our first home win. BUT, if you were meaning that this somehow vindicated GB from being a bad coach, and the fact that he still needs to be let go, then you are wrong. One game in no way changes the results of a lack of discipline on and off the field that his teams have shown in his tenure, or the big lack of consistency we have seen over the years. I am thrilled whenever BG wins, and I hope that we can win out the rest of the season. BUT, I have believed for three years now that we needed a new direction, and that won't change now. You won't see me on here bitching about anything, a wins a win. I am reserving my complaining now for my own team, of which I am sure I will have plenty to complain about this year. BUT IT'S NOW BASKETBALL SEASON, WOOHOO!

I'll take the win and get ready to make the trip to Athens next week. We played probably our best half of football in the first half...totally dominated Kent. The 2nd half was poor, at best.

But, we won...at home...and it feels great. Pretty decent weather as well.

Not to speak for him, but I think you're reading alot into what he said. All I took from his comment was that some people here will only focus on negatives, even after a win.

Any time BG gets a win in anything - it's GREAT in my book. I don't care how good or bad we look doing it, just as long as we get it done. Now the question is, can we but together back-to-back wins for the first time this season?
GO BG!!!

FWIW, BG has won their last 5 November games dating back to last year.

On the roster, Jason Rice is listed as a DB...according to Brandon's press conf., he's been getting "reps" at RB, but "not ready for prime time.. but he's ready now". What we saw on Saturday was a kid who seemed to find the hole, hit it quickly, and, as he put it, " didn't see anyone else out there, so I just ran". Also threw a HB pass for a 42 yrd. completion...and had 5 tackles on special teams...other than that he didn't do much.

Again, according to Brandon, he was originally a walk on from Columbus, was a RB, switched to DB and even LB for awhile. When we started accumulating our RB injuries, they moved him back to RB where he played in the Spring.... not a bad "debut" for a R-Fr.

I know there were about a dozen people in the stands but did anyone else notice we had a new announcer?

Yeah, I noticed the new announcer...and from what I could tell he was really into the game, though I wasn't able to tell if he was getting names right or anything like that as it's hard to tell those things from where I'm at in the FMB seats.
