PJ May Get a Shot Versus Browns?

Broncos lose two RBs on Sunday for the season. One of the remaining backs is coming off a broken elbow, and the other hasn't played in three weeks because of a groin injury. Look for PJ Pope to get signed from the practice squad as insurance. It would be nice to see PJ and Steve on the same field on Thursday night.

From Broncos Scout.com...

The Denver Broncos placed two of their running backs on IR Monday.

Starter Michael Pittman (neck) and backup Andre Hall (ankle) were lost for the season after getting injured during Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Denver will practice Tuesday and will leave for Cleveland on Wednesday. They play the Browns on Thursday.

With Pittman and Hall out, rookie Ryan Torain, who played Sunday for the first time all season after coming back from a broken elbow, rookie FB Peyton Hillis, and second-year RB Selvin Young will handle the rushing load this week.

Young has missed the last three games with a groin injury but should be available for this week's game.

P J is still on the Broncos practice squad and they have just two RB on the active roster. I would say he has a decent shot of being added to the active roster. Or they Broncos may be entertaining free agent RB and that would explain why the move hasn't been made already.

I don't see PJ getting any love this week on the field...no chance he sees playing time.

Broncos promoted Pope today! Good luck PJ! (But not *too* much good luck! )

Three former Falcons suiting up at CBS on Thursday night? Very cool.

From the Broncos official website and head coach Mike Shanahan...

On the running back situation
"We are going to take a look at Selvin and see how he is doing. Ryan Torain got some practice time and a few plays during the game, so I have a lot of confidence in him. Hopefully there are no setbacks with those two guys. We have P.J. Pope who has been on our practice squad, so we brought him up and he will get a chance to possibly get some playing time as well."

Ill trade Edwards for Pope straight up. I know they play two different positions, but at BG we saw that Pope can catch a ball. With Cleveland starting Quinn, we need people who can catch the ball. ;-)

On a more serious note. Does anyone think that Steve may have a few more balls thrown his way?

Depends on Stallworth's situation. But as I said here or in another thread, I think if Sanders sees the field, he'll likely get a few (hopefully decent) balls thrown his way.

I *REALLY* should have pushed my cousin for his ticket to the game Thurs.

Maybe I should pick up Steve and start him over Braylon this week!

The way it sounds like from the announcers, is that he isn't part of the Broncos game plan.

I was pretty excited when the second RB went down, but still no PJ. You have to think now, if those injuries are serious enough to keep Torain and Young out, the Broncos will go pick up a FA, esp. with a long week ahead. But I'd think if he busts azz and shows something in practice until then, PJ might stick around as a backup on the active roster.

Good to see Kory Lichtensteiger get some face time, even though it was at the expense of a Broncos TD.

Was Pope actually on the gameday roster? I figured he wasn't since he never came in even after they suffered more injuries at the position.

As expected, Sanders was inactive for the game since Stallworth was back.

Pope was declared inactive before the game.

That pretty much blows that he didn't get to play. Hope he gets a chance sometime in the near future!
