Something to Ponder?

Okay BG Fans!! Something to think about. As a former Falcon Graduate but now an athletic trainer for the Indianapolis Colts and being able to follow Ball State this year it got me thinking.

If BG would win out and make it to the MAC Championship game and play a 12-0 Ball State team and that Ball State team if they would beat our beloved BG team would play in a BCS game who would you want to win that game.

Would you want BG to pull the upset and prevent Ball State from playing in a BCS game? Would you root for Ball State to keep winning and make our conference look good?

Tough decision!!! Personally I would like Ball State to win the game, go to a BCS game and make our conference look good. It is not often that a non BCS school gets this opportunity. I would like to see what everyone thinks.

That is tough. I would love to see Ball St play in a BCS game, as I was high school friends/teammates with Myles Trempe, Ball St WR. But.......even if Ball St wins out there is no guarantee they would even make the BCS. And if they do, I gotta think they have little to no chance of winning, but it would be good publicity for the MAC as a whole. Tough call.

I voted for BG to win, for a couple reasons. 1.) It may be my only chance to see BG play in a bowl game during my years here 2.) It will give the team a recruiting edge for this year. 3.) It is a major confidence builder for next season, and some motivation for early season as well.

So, as much as I would love to see a MAC team in the BCS, I gotta stick with my roots, BG all the way baby!!!!!!

Are you effin' crazy? BGSU first. I can't vote, root, pull against my Alma Mater. School first, conference 2nd.

Now if by some miracle BGSU made it to the MACC game versus Testicle Tech, I do honestly believe BSU would win, and then be on their way to a possible BCS birth. Doesn't mean that's what I'm cheering or rooting for.

Recruiting edge? Your kidding right. We played in bowl games 2 of the last 3 years. Do you think losing to Tulsa by 60 points helped out recruiting. Also have to remember, if BSU goes to a BCS game, the MAC splits the 12 million dollar payout. BG would get about 1 million dollars from that game alone. The money is split evenly after all travel expenses have been taken out. You say it may be the only time you will get a chance to see BG in a bowl game. This may be the ONLY CHANCE EVER a MAC school will play in a BCS game. Ball State is #14 right now. I see 6 more upsets coming in the upcoming weeks, more once the Big 12 and SEC tournaments come around. Ball Sate, if they win out, in my estimate will move up to #8. Top 12 get a chance at the BCS, top 6 guarantee. But I am saying if BALL STATE winning the MAC Championship would put them in the Top 6 BCS teams would you want BSU or BG to win.

I see you points you're making, and they're perfectly valid. I still cannot cheer against our Falcons.

Of course, I really don't see us winning both of our remaining games, Akron beating Buffalo, Venus being in opposition to Mars while being in the constellation Ursa Major all happening in order for us to make it to the MACC.

BG. Period. End of story. I can never, ever cheer against the Falcons!

The MAC splits a slightly larger portion of the BCS payout that is also spread across the other non-BCS conferences after travel expenses are taken out.

But I don't care if they promised the MAC part of the federal bailout money, free kegs at every game and nuclear disarmament, 1992 was way too long ago. GO BG!

(Besides, the Cardinal bandwagon is starting to get out of control.)

Even if Ball St. runs the table, they will get the shaft. Utah and Boise St. still have the inside track on BSU. That being said, if Utah and Boise were to stumble, opening the door for BSU, the only way I'd pull for BSU would be if BG wasn't in their way.

Utah still has a tough game vs BYU. Boise still has 2 games they could potentially lose. At Nevada and Fresno at home. All of those teams are going to be gunning to end a perfect season. Of course all the teams will be gunning for Ball St. too.

Upsets happen all the time. If BSU wins out they might be in a perfect spot. As long as BG is not in the MACC I will be rooting for Ball St.

Here are two things to 'ponder':

1. Why this is even a question on a BG fan board?

2. Who voted for BSU?

After Central beats Ball State next week none of this will matter.

Why would I ever root for BG to lose?

I'd want BGSU to win. That way somebody would hire Brandon away.

Of course, wanting and expecting are two different things.
