So they're picking 5 MAC teams, two from the East, and none from Bowling Green. Tomorrows game is huge if conferences continue to not fill their tie ins...Not that the game wasn't already huge.

A week after saying BG will be the only team over .500 to not go bowling, not to mention a week which saw BG not play and Buffalo win a game, Stewart Mandel now calls BG his "favorite to win the MAC East".

What a douche.

BEAT UB!

But per Ryan Autello or whatever you're only playing for a division title in a tiny, insignificant league and will never have the opportunity to play in a BCS bowl game.

Meh. Whatever helps sell copies of his tiny, obscure newspaper. :-D

Maybe he thought Akron was going to beat UB (almost did) and then win out and take the East. Maybe he thought NIU would beat CMU (almost did). Last week he projected 6 MAC teams to go bowling, and this week he projects 5.

Why is he a douche? Because his predictions weren't perfect, or because last week he thought BG would be the only team with a winning record to not go bowling? Would he be an ok guy is he had left out UB or NIU instead last week?

He has years of douchery to back up his findings.

And his predictions last week were based on mathematical impossibilities, ESPECIALLY if Akron beat UB. You're not his brother or something, are you? :-D

So by looking at the projected BCS rankings at Rivals I was thinking the following...

1. I'd like to see Oregon State win the PAC 10....But it appears if they win the PAC 10, it'll take away at BCS spot for Boise/Utah/Ball State (Utah appears in if they win out, the other two not as much).

I wanna clear something up. Does a BCS conference champ automatically go? I think i read somewhere that if they aren't in the top 16 of the BCS they cannot go. Is this correct?

2. Obviously i'd like to see Ball State in a BCS game, i dont see it happening, but I'd like it if it did. What kind of situations would need to happen for them to get in there? Oregon State losing (thus giving USC PAC 10 title), Or have the BIG E or ACC Conference Champ not be in the top 16 in the BCS (assuming above is correct), anything else anyone can think of?

I'd imagine they'll take an undefeated (if it happens) Boise and Ball State over a 3rd team from the BIG 12 or SEC (like last season i think, the BIG 12 had three teams in the top ten i think, not sure who got booted)...

Who knows, like i said, I'd like to see it happen (all three going, UTAH, Boise and BSU) but dont envision all three going, maybe two Boise and UT, and for sure Utah (assuming they win out of course)

Ball State's only chance is to have Utah and Boise State lose out, while the Cardinals win their last two. (WMU and MACC). Even then, I believe they have to be in the top 12 of the BCS and that's not a lock, either.

I think 2 is the maximum number of teams from any one conference that can play in a BCS bowl in the same year.

I heard somewhere that only one non-bcs conference team can make a BCS bowl game in any given year. So if utah and boise win out then ball state is out of the running and so would either utah or boise. Can't remember where I heard this but maybe someone can validate it.

I think I've heard this, too, but don't know if it was a hard and fast rule, or just a "We don't want ONE in, why the hell would we let two play?" type thing.

Right now, BG is playing up to the level expected the whole season. Buffalo will be a very tough out....that program is legit.

GO BG / ROLL ALONG
