I knew they would screw BG. Florida jumps us and lands the #25 spot with 4 losses and we are at 26.

BG was idle this week and BG never gets love in the AP Poll.

Kinda to be expected. We were only in the AP poll last week because the voters couldn't decide who the 25th team should be...we only had 42 votes which is very low to actually be ranked. Florida, while they do have four loses, beat Florida State who was ranked 10th...so you really can't blame the voters for consolidating on them. We only lost one vote in the poll. If we beat Toledo, we should be back in easily....there are several teams near the bottom that could easily lose their last game.

At least we stayed put in the Coaches poll...so we're still going in ranked.

Certainly not this year, but last year going into the Miami game BG had our highest ranking ever when we were 15th in the AP. At that same time the coaches poll had us ranked 20th.

oh you're right...I should've said that we never get love in the coaches poll. Actually the AP poll usually has us ranked higher than the coaches poll. Should've looked that up before posting.

Usually the AP poll gives Miami more love. However, we don't have a single vote from them. I know we haven't had as good a season as last year, but we are 8-3 and the MAC East champs. Last week we had two votes in the Coaches Poll, but after we beat Akron, we lost one! Go figure. (and how does UT have more votes than we do?) I'm surpried OSU didn't jump to #15 this week!

Please take no offense, but I believe the loss to Marshall, a team ranked 75th, really hurts. Also, the way you lost to Michigan and the loss to Cinncinnati don't bode well.

We, too, don't have alot of quality wins, but what helps is that our losses are to Oklahoma, need I say more, and NIU, MAC west champs. The other big boost is the way we beat the #1 MAC defense and last, the way our offense poured on points with the biggest being 70 against Temple at their place.

I believe you will need to get a convincing BIG win to get ranked. Alot of folks believe the MAC West is far superior to the East this year, so you will need to shut up the naysayers by winning the MACC.

I'm not expecting to be ranked. However, I do think we deserve more than one vote.

You'll get some votes after we rout UT. ::Grin:: Good luck against the Huskies in Detroit!

The AP is the media poll. The media have had their lips attached to UT's collective behind for the entire year. Not being too bright, they made the leap and pinned UT as being the odds-on favorite to win the west and the MAC. They had decided to make the UT QB their choice for the "next big MAC QB" only to find out he isn't as good as they hoped, and Omar is better. The broadcast media have Omar, the print hacks have UT. The print media lags the broadcast media in having a clue what is going on in the MAC, hence they take last years news....or mostly the year before last's news.

Don't be shocked, or alarmed. You can expect things to be even worse next year when UT's QB is a senior. Let the Falcons beat him and put the issue to bed.
