13,284!! That is what they say the attendance was. I am guessing closer to 8,000 and maybe only 3,284 at the end of regulation.

If that in deed was the attendance then Brandon should be lucky that many people showed up with the way he has been coaching.

Nice exact number, did you count at the end?

Probation - which has been avoided yet another year.

That's great that we got 13,000 for a Friday night, 6 p.m. kickoff...I'm glad that all the publicity worked and GC did one thing right...now it's time to do one more thing right...FIRE BRANDON!

We're concerned about attendance because;

1. Our coach (and I use the term loosely) makes it the focus of his post game press conference.

2. Are we not on NCAA probation for attendance?

No, we are NOT on probation.

I think a few of the players may be, but the program isn't.

I don't have the rules in front of me, but if memory serves, the NCAA allows teams to either:

1. count the number of people who actually show up, or

2. count the number of tickets sold plus the number of students who show up, regardless of price.

I'd say it's pretty obvious that the attendance figure includes the latter approach. It includes season ticket holders who didn't show. It probably also includes any unused flex plan vouchers still in circulation. I'm pretty sure any vouchers that go unused over the course of the season are added up and applied to the attendance figure for the final game.

There may be other accounting gimmicks at work here, too. And, yet, "gimmicks" is a loaded word that may not apply here.

The NCAA has rules for how universities may count attendance and reach the 15,000 standard. I've got to think BGSU is simply following the rules here and not trying to deceive.

I'm sure it's well within the rules of the NCAA that we came up with that number. I'm glad that we got plenty of people to avoid NCAA issues.

That being said I don't think there is any way there were even 8000 people there last night. The East Side could not have had 1000 people in total, and the West side was less than half full. I'd be surprised if the actual in-game attendance was over 6000 people. But what do you expect, as I said all week. It was a 6:00 game, against a historically bad opponent, in 25 degree weather, on a Friday night. To expect more is asking way too much.

Personally I busted my butt to get out of work (leaving in the middle of an important conference call, but my boss was understanding), then drive through the snow and dodging accidents, just to pull in the parking lot in time to hurry to my seats before kickoff.

I believe we are on double-secret probation.

You know what? I've been hearing that b.s. since I arrived in 1993 and left in 1997. We've never dropped down to the FCS. Dean Wormer has yet to put us on double-secret probation for our attendance #'s.

If there were 5,000 there at peak, I'd be shocked.
