Something that I noticed about these articles is that they do not really give you the idea that we were there to cheer for EMU. It wasn’t until the very end that we were “with” NIU. Even with that, we weren’t saying, “We want you to win, go win the MAC.” All we were saying was that we’ll get them to the MACC Tuesday night. Between this, and the coverage on TV (both the game broadcast, and Toledo news stations), I’m pretty happy with the press we received. Not too shabby if you ask me. Toledo Sucks. Jeff
From today's Dekalb Daily Chronical:
Bowling Green Fans
A group of Bowling Green State University fans sat in the first row of the stands to support the Eagles - initially. The Falcons needed the Eagles to beat the Huskies to stay in contention for the West Division title. However, the cluster of Falcon fans changed their tune after the game. They hovered over the entrance to the visitor locker room and cheered for the Huskies. Several NIU players yelled out words of encouragement and high-fived the BGSU fans. The Huskies can win the West title if the Falcons defeat the Toledo on Tuesday.
From the Daily Herald (Chicago) today:
As the Huskies left the field Saturday, they acknowledged a group
of cheering Bowling Green fans sitting near their locker room.
"Go Bowling Green!" junior safety Ray Smith yelled.
"Good luck in the MAC championship game," a confident Falcons fan
responded.
The Bowling Green backers waited to salute Wolfe, who made a dominant
return after missing NIU's loss to Toledo. Wolfe continued his dream
season by rushing for a school-record 325 yards and 2 touchdowns.
And from today’s Rockford Register Star:
That left the Huskies one step short of the Mid-American Conference West Division title. NIU (8-3, 7-1) will play in the Dec. 2 MAC title game in Detroit if Bowling Green (8-2, 6-1) wins at Toledo (7-3, 6-1) on Tuesday night. A row of orange-clad BG fans -- who were hoping for an EMU victory to keep alive their own title hopes -- hung over the railing as the Huskies trotted to their locker room pointing at NIU players and hollering: "MAC champs! MAC champs right here!"
"We've done our part," NIU coach Joe Novak said. "Now we have to put all our faith in Bowling Green."

All those BG quotes are things I said...weird
I think we represented BG well up there. Even though we changed from cheering for EMU to NIU after the game, I think we did a very respectful thing and I hope others notice that BG fans are cool like that!!
