What a great article, and about a deserving team, players and their coach. I admittedly love to hear good things about the MAC, but watching this BSU team over the past few weeks has been truly enjoyable...and that little RB is simply dynamite!
It'll be interesting to see how Buffalo does against BSU...if they play like they did for 3Q against us, it'll be a slaughter! If they play like they did in the last Q (read 4.5min.) against us, it COULD be interesting...but I like BSU's chances in their bowl game no matter WHO they play.

I enjoy most of Whitlock's articles. I like that he always goes out of his way to show he went to Ball State and he supports the MAC.

The best part is reading all of the belly aching comments from the Big 12 types.
I would like to for once see one of those SEC or Big 12 Teams actually play a non-conference road game north of the Mason-Dixon line that isn't in August!
They always wine about how bad we would do in their "superior" conferences all the while never figuring in the unlevel playing field since we barely get a sniff of all that BCS money.

Jay works for ESPN...he's not ALLOWED to talk about the MAC...I'm sure that's what he'd say...as for the article, I think it's great. He makes some great points. I gotta say though, he lost me about a year ago when he played the race card on 20 different situations while hosting The Sports Reporters. I like this article, but don't give me anything by Whitlock about McNabb/Limbaugh, Vick, Jordan or anyone else. He should stick to articles like this! Nice one!

Ball State's football season perfectly illustrated my problem with ESPN and why I believe the World Wide Leader is the most evil and destructive force in the sports world. It has driven and hastened the destruction of authentic, independent, democratic, courageous sports journalism.
ESPN is the enemy of the truth, and all who believe a pursuit of the truth is the lifeblood of a genuinely free society must stand against the Wal-Mart-ization of sports journalism.
Don't sugarcoat it, my man!

That guy's a toolbox. That's why he's on the ESPN for dumb teenagers show.
Whitlock did a good thing here. He's a nationally respected columnist with a huge following and he called out ESPN for its lack of real journalism and tendency to cater to the teams, conferences and personalities that make them money. And rather than tell a good story, they'd sooner tell you about a team that will get them more hits because it has a bigger fanbase.

Bravo Jason Whitlock.
What a GREAT article that was.
It is nice when someone can stand up and tell it like is is. That does not happen too often anymore.
Thanks alot for posting that article, I really enjoyed reading it.

A great story. At the beginning of the year, CMU was the sexy pick to win the West again...and almost did. I had BG playing Ball State for the title...there was something about this BSU team when reading their preseason stuff. They've earned their ranking. Yes, they didn't play the toughest sked but beat all the teams on their sked. It's all you can ask a team to do.
I am looking forward to seeing BSU and Buffalo in the title game. I think BSU will win but UB will put up a heck of a fight. It totally sucks it's not BG playing in the title game...

He was filling in for Jim Rome Wednesday...it was a thing of beauty to hear him call ESPN "the devil" and just RIP into them.
