What is it with the state of Oklahoma?

Why is it that teams from OK seem to think that they have to run up scores and break records? Last night I saw a Bob Stoops team, that I once had respect for, purposely run up the score against Missouri. They were in complete control of the game with around 4 minutes to go. They were already up 34 points and what do they do? Throw a deep route simply to try and put up 60. Ultimately they broke a 38 yard touchdown run, but the fact that just two plays prior they were throwing a deep route that was intended to just run up the score makes me lose respect for them and the BCS. If it weren't for that damn money hungry BCS Stoops wouldn't be forced to run up the score and get "style points" for how they win. There is no reason up 34 with 4:30 left in the game that Sam Bradford should even be in that game when they already know that they are going to be going to the National Championship game. I never wish injury on anyone but boy do I wish he could of twisted ankle or something of the sort to teach Stoops a lesson. I was pretty upset when he ran it up on Texas Tech a few weeks ago as well. It seems pretty classless to me.

After Tulsa ran up the score on us last year I mentioned how OU has a history if running of the score. Doesn't surprise me at all.

I cannot stand Bob Stoops, but it's the system. He has to look as impressive as he can, has to impress as many voters as he can to assure playing in the championship, cause you can be sure there are some people who are still going to vote Texas ahead of them and there will be some who vote Bama ahead of them, he has to do what he has to do. That being said, I hope he gets killed in the championship game.

It's not a good thing, but I agree in that it has to be done. With various human and computer rankings, these coaches need exercise their superiority to guarantee they get to the championship game.
It's not like this was a I-AA school, it was the Big 12 Championship. Missouri should have made some stops.

Why do you feel the need to degrade Oklahoma, VW Falcon?? they've got a great team and they're a winner --- they play to win and Stoops is an extraodinary coach and recruiter. The talent, the speed that team has is mind boggling. Were you upset when BG was r unning up the scores a few years ago, averaging something over 40 points/game. I can recall watching them running up 70 points on Temple. Oklahoma substutes early and often with young players when they're ahead. Are they not suppose to score? Sorry, but that's what the game is all about. You need to find something else to complain about. Perhaps y ou should be more concerned about the fact the UT just swallowed up three exceptional coaches --- right out from under BG!

I completely agree. I was AT this game last night, since I am currently a graduate assistant with the Mizzou band, and that deep route play with 4 minutes left thoroughly pissed me off.
Mizzou fans pretty much went into this game knowing we were gonna lose, we just wanted to get it over with. Running up the score that late and playing the starters the whole game was just plain CLASSLESS. I've always hated Bob Stoops, but this game just made that hatred stronger!

The guy is fighting for a chance to play for a national championship. He can't leave anything to chance with the screwy BCS system. I don't blame him at all. If he where coaching my team, or your team for that matter, I'd expect the same mentality...and so would you.

No, I would not expect the same mentality, and here's why: I see NO scenario where Oklahoma wins this game AND gets bumped out of the BCS Championship game. Florida and Alabama played each other, the loser was going to drop in the BCS. The only teams they would have to be worried about jumping them in the BCS were Texas and USC. Texas was obviously idle this week. There's no way Texas jumps Oklahoma when Oklahoma beats Mizzou (no matter what the score) and Texas is idle. NO WAY!! USC played UCLA, and that was not a high enough quality opponent for them to be able to jump Oklahoma after a win over Missouri. I stand by what I said. Stoops was just plain classless.....

Congrats Jlozer8...you're the only one in America that understands the BCS. You also know how the voters in both polls are going to vote. Bob Stoops didn't.

I am not degrading Oklahoma... I was making an observation.
As far as Oklahoma... are you delusional? Oklahoma was in, all they had to do was win the championship game. There was no way with the way ESPN has been all over Oklahoma's nuts that they weren't going to get in.
Now as far as BG running up the score... as far as putting up 40+ a game... we kinda of needed to put up that many points because our D was giving up just about that many. The Temple game, honestly... it's been covered so many times I don't even really want to get into that one... how bout the fact that Partridge broke the punt for a TD with only 10 on the field... or the fact that we ran the SAME RUNNING play a few times in a row and they still couldn't stop it. That was with our 2nd and 3rd string players in... not our star quarterback...
GET REAL!!!
