According to ESPN tonight, Turner Gill's efforts have been rewarded to make him one of the top paid coaches in the MAC. His assistants all get raises, too.

Good news for Buffalo, not so much for everyone else. Im glad he stayed though, too often a MAC coach has no loyalty

He has loyalty for this year. He can't interview for any open positions this year. He is as good as gone next year.

Buffalo goes 2-10...well, I guess he may be gone either way.

I guess Buffalo must not have the same budget problems as BGSU.

Don't you have tenure? Why are you so concerned about funds? Your job is safer than mine. I'm a graduate assistant. They don't have to give me funding if they don't want to. The instructors in my department are being cut for next year. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'm tired of reading this crap about funds and how horrible it is we spend money in certain places, and how sports should just be cut. You want to cut sports? We should cut the following sports then: volleyball, soccer, golf, baseball, softball, swimming, track, rugby, and any other sport that is non-revenue.

I wonder what the financial details of Gill's new deal is. I would assume $300-$400k?

Buffalo also has the highest endowment of any MAC school. They have a little more money to spend than most, they just don't always spend it.

Yes, I have tenure, but I care about the kind of university I work at, which means I care about more than just my salary and job security. Sheesh. I care about the instructors being cut because the ones I know are great, hardworking teachers. And if we cut the people doing 4-4 teaching loads, then those of us who teach less could well end up teaching a lot more.
And I don't necessarily want to cut sports, but if everything is said to be on the table then everything ought to really be on the table.
Finally, it seems to me all sports at BGSU are non revenue in terms of whether or not they pay for themselves, so if you say we should cut non-revenue sports that would mean we cut them all.

The SUNY school system isn't screwed up like here in Ohio where we have TOO MANY STATE SCHOOLS.
God... I hate being right about this stuff... I claimed this 5 years ago...
We have budget issues... cut off funding and redistribute students to other schools.
Does Ohio really need... what is it... 13 or more state universities? No they don't.

Is someone going to say he doesn't deserve it like on the Hoke thread? One winning season?

Gil took thee worst team in all of college football and has steadily improved each year. Ball St. has been bad but they were never 'Buffalo' Bad.

Ball State went from 2-9 to 4-7 to 5-7 to 7-6 to 12-1 and its going to its second straight bowl. That's steady improvement. I think they both deserved to be rewarded, but to say Gill deserved it more is BS.

Settle down. It's not that big of a deal.
