Dont know if this has already been discussed but, per bgsufalcons.com Boise State and Maryland will be playing us here in BG. Not sure if it was a part of the contract signed or a new one, but should be very exciting nontheless!!! I can see ESPN written all over that first game, if Boise can get it together and be on the national radar. I know its random but it kinda excited me that two fairly prestigous schools will be coming to play us at the Doyt in one year!!!

Here is the non conference home game schedule if anyone is interested:

2009: Wyoming and Troy
2010: Marshall (five home games)
2011: Boise and Maryland
2012: Idaho and TBA (likely a I-AA program)

I'm excited for Wyoming and Troy coming in next year....and 6 home games.

The 2011 sked with Boise State and Maryland is monster for us. LOVE to see those kinds of names coming here.

Spring game is less than 4 months away!!!

I cannot wait for the spring game and then to see this team suit up under coach Clawson. Looks like we've got a pretty good home schedule in the next few years as well. That's always nice.

The worst think that could happen between now and 2011 is our program is not ready to play Maryland...coach is on the hot seat, more beat down of students by players, poor performance in the classroom etc.

You do know we have a new coach and staff coming in, right? Do you think the things that plagued the program the last couple years will continue now under Coach Clawson? You seem to have a pessimistic view of the new coach so far....why is that?

That's a good question, Mike. I wasn't always so pessimistic. I think some of it has to do with what happened under Gary Blackney's watch, and then the crap I have read in the paper about the some of the guys we had on the team last year. What I believe happens too often is we take kids of questionable character, but yet very skilled, and hope they will tow the line while here at BG. Sadly that as much as anything cost Greg Brandon his job.
There is a lot of money to be made in college coaching these days. When these guys are in position to advance through the ranks like UM did, it can play over and over in a coach's mind. BGSU twenty years from now will probably still be trying to make the grade football wise, just as the program has for the last 40 years. What will be remembered away from BG will be, BGSU was UM's epicenter. Going 10-2 a few times over in the MAC can land a HC a raise of $500,000 overnight as he steps to the next stone. BG is a good solid "stone" in the MAC and outsiders in the coaching field view it in that light. Young coaches knowing they have talent want to check into the league and spring board to the 800k level as quickly as their record will take them. The Claw is no different, and believe me BG is not his dream job. I remember seeing UM's wife in the BG bookstore wearing Notre Dame apparel from head to toe. It was disgusting.
When I grew up Doyt Perry lived down the street from my family. His kids went to the same elementary schools, junior highs, and high school as the rest of the neighborhood kids did. They weren't sent to St. John's or anywhere else. Perry was happy to make an honest living by doing what he did best.
I see the MAC as being a conference victimized by what is happening in college athletics in general. People seem less and less interested in conference championships today - the top 25 is what it is all about. The MAC and their fans are somewhat caught up in all that and I hope somehow it comes together for them. But what I really feel needs to be done is the college presidents and ADs need to get together and put some type of framework into place that would cap salaries, etc. Thus, put an end to some of the madness that swirls over Division I fooball stadiums.

Maybe you should give the guy a chance here before you assume he wants to move on... Many coaches that come here (in a lot of our sports...Curt Miller....) find that they really love the community here and know it's a great place to live. A few years of success here and he may or may not want to move on, only time will tell....but he also may feel this has turned into his dream job! ....unless he has a wife like UM ....I found THAT part of your post more telling about UM using BG as a stepping stone than anything he ever said or did...And thankfully, she is the exception to the character of people we usually get here!! As much as people hated Brandon's coaching style, he still sent his son goes to Bowling Green High School and his wife is a down-to-earth wonderful person who would talk with anyone! (...end rant)

I truly hope you are right! I would be wonderful to find someone that could love the community and the community reciprocate...It would be nice to see the program take off like a rocket instead of staff members taking off to be Rockets.
