I would be glad to play OU in Columbus if it was their home game and not ours!

Personally, I enjoy the scenic drive from Akron to Athens too much to rather drive to Cbus. I will if I have to but I'd rather just go to Peden...it's a great stadium and we usually play VERY well there.

Gross. The MAC shouldn't be moving conference games off campus to larger stadiums until their own stadiums are filled up week after week, regardless of what time the OSU game kicks off. The only time a MAC team should be playing a "home" game off campus, is a situation where the opponent will only agree to the game, I.E. Wisconsin vs. BG in Cleveland. Otherwise, I don't see the benefit. If Columbus area alums aren't making the effort to get up to BG or down to Athens for games, will they really feel compelled to go to Crew Stadium just because it's a shorter drive?

That was my point! If OU wants to move theior home game an hour or two closer to BG that would be fine with me, but if you are talking about moving a BG home game to Columbus, I have bought my last season ticket!

Oh yeah, I understood your point and agree, I just don't think it would be a good idea for any MAC school to move a conference home game. It took the Falcons long enough to get six home games, (I think next year is the first time since 2003 we've had that, and that year we played two I-AAs) so I don't think the administration would consider moving any of them. That article seemed like pure speculation and nothing more so I'm not too worried about it.

If the powers that be of the MAC think this game is a good idea that will help make the MAC more popular then by all means AVOID having anything to do with it.

I think this is a bad idea regardless of who would play.

Not so sure that the Columbus Crew stadium is BIGGER than either the Doyt or Peden. Either way, anything that we would do to help out COLUMBUS stinks in my opinion. Let em keep their beloved Bucks...that gets stuffed down our throats every week anyway.

Crew Stadium's seating capacity is 22,555.

DUMB DUMB DUMB idea.

Columbus cares about OSU... no one else.

Crew Stadium sucks as a football facility.

There is no benefit for programs to play there, they are not going to steal Buckeye fans.

Unless the Columbus Sports Comission is offering each school 500K to play their game there... stay home and allow alums to enjoy the cities of their respective schools.

I think the Columbus sports comission is passing around to many joints these days.

Spot on, R4E.

I like the concept, but comparing it to Illinois v Missouri is apples to oranges. To me, the reason that game works on a neutral field is because it isn't a conference game for either school. All that goes out the window as soon as one team has to give up home field for a game that may determine a conference championship then I would think it becomes a very unattractive offer. If it could be done early in the season between a MAC team and another conference then it may fly.

I wouldn't want to lose a BGSU home game to play in OSU-obsessed Columbus. I can see going down there to watch a game, and indeed, even enjoy the trip. Good shopping, nice post-pre game food options, easy drive. Now the area around that place, ghetto. But nice fenced off tailgate space.

The MAC has whored itself out for November week night games...

You spend the first month of the season traveling for OOC opponents.

Which leaves October... for four or five games.. half of which will be road games.

And now you want to give up half of your home Saturday games to Columbus... yeah we have some real geniuses working on this idea.
