MAC Bowl Games = Annoying

It just pisses me off watching all these MAC teams play in bowl games, knowing we're sitting at home with a better team. Thanks Greg Brandon.
The ever so dangerous Rice Owls are up on Western Michigan 24-0 at the half. The MAC will drop to 0-3 after this game. Only Ball State and Buffalo have yet to play.
We are missing out on an entire month of practices as well as the expsoure. Wonder if all these recruiting defections headed to Toledo would have happened if we were playing in another bowl game this year?

IF we were playing in a bowl game this year I would bet dollars to donuts that GB is still the coach, and while I think he was a nice enough guy and wish him all the best, after what I saw this season it was time for a change. As such, I'd rather sit home and switch the coach rather than bowl and have to look forward to another season with Gregg at the helm.

PS, yes the MAC games are sucking so far.

Rice is a pretty good team. Notre Dame turned them down for that bowl, now they're taking it out on Western.

that is what i also heard. We had no one to coach the team so had to decline the invitation to the indepdence bowl. We were invited after GB was fired

Where has this been confirmed? I've only heard and read it here as pure speculation. It seems doubtful we were invited to any bowl game and had to turn it down. You have NIU and BG, both 6-6. NIU beat BG 13-10, so it seems obvious that NIU would deserve the bowl invite over BG with everything else being equal.
Just wondering if anyone has a link to a story with someone from Bowling Green or the Independence Bowl confirming we were invited and turned it down, because I haven't seen anything.

I have it on good authority that this is false.

Why the eff would we turn down a bowl invite? I'm sure there would've been someone on our current staff capable enough to lead us in a bowl game. I would guar-an-damn-tee that our athletic dept. isn't that stupid to turn down a bowl invite for lack of coaches. That just sounds insane. If it is true, then we need to fire everyone from top to bottom in our athletic dept. That being said...we didn't deserve a bowl anyway...and neither did about 15-20 other "FBS" (formerly D1-A) schools that made a "bowl" either.

By reading the last 2 posts, I know feel pretty confident that we did not get a bowl invite, and it's just somebody trying to get people upset about the GB situation and upset with GC.

Back to the topic, MAC Fottball isn't very good! 3 bowl games = 3 bowl loses! Let's hope for better results from Buffalo and Ball St..

Ha...why would we listen to you?
I heard this rumor as well, but I think I'll take Ryan's word for it.

Rollo,
You've made your point on countless other posts. GB is gone. Let it go. I am as disappointed as anyone with 6-6 this year but to keep harping on this is getting old. You and a few others here seem to think it's necessary to keep hammering this dead horse.

Yes, lets quit hammering on the dead horse. Sorry Ryan but I heard it differently and I got it from a good authority also. But at this point it doen't much matter does it.

Sorry...the bowl season just fanned the flame in me again.

I could have coached BG into as good a game against Rice as WMU had. Pretty hard to imagine turning down a chance to play in a bowl game, get recruiting exposure, etc. As for knowing BG had a better team-BG didn't play the top 3 in the West and lost to number 4. Better? Well, better than number 5 maybe (but not number 6 Eastern), but then nobody invited us to a bowl.
