Just to let all you falcon fans know what is going on. Corey is in surgery today to repair his left knee. He played all season with a ruptured PCL and a torn menicus. The surgery will be around 2-3 hours with two separate surgeons working on him. They said his PCL issue was the worse they had seen in terms of how much movement the lack of a PCL allowed. He will be in a knee brace for quite sometime and the rehab is going to be somewhere around 8 months. Hopes are that he will be able to return to what is considered normal function. Please keep him in your prayers and thanks for all the support over the past 4 years.

Thank you for letting your son play for the Falcons the last few years. He was one of the best receivers we've had and always played hard. Will never forget the one handed snag at OSU or that beautiful catch at WY down the sideline.

I will definitely keep him in my prayers and it is hard to believe that he played so well all year like that. Hope to hear updates on how his recovery is going. It was a pleasure to watch him play here these last 4 years he was one of my favorite players.

Ditto all that. We don't see too many college football highlights out here in the boonies, but I can tell you there is an army of BG fans, and the only image they have is OSU getting torched at home with Corey's one handed wonder.

Please extend Joyce and my best wishes to Corey for a complete recovery...I think we all knew that he's the kind of kid who "plays hurt", but doubt that any of us knew the extent of what he was to face after his career at
BG was completed. I love the fact that he posed for a pic with my two grandkids on the field this year... they'll really have something special to remember.

I know I couldn't put up with the physical pounding Corey endured the last four years. Pass along my best wishes, Spart.

Well, as best as one can tell the surgery went well. Corey showed me the pictures they took during the surgery. Man, his knee was taking a pounding. His menicus was in better shape than first thought so that is good. They put in a cadaver PCL, drilled two holes in the bone to anchor it. There is quite a bit of Arthritis building up so its good he got it fixed now. He was pretty giddy when I saw him and was struggling with Guitar Hero due to the pain killers messing with him. He is in good spirits and is looking forward to playing some volleyball with his Dad. I will keep you posted as his rehab continues.

Corey's coaching opportunities were based upon one of the previous assistant coaches at BG taking Corey with him as a receivers coach, currently that is all up in the air right now. So we will see what unfolds. I think Corey would be an excellant coach. Wouldn't mind seeing him helping out with the receivers at BG next year, he already has a good relationship with them and he will be there unless something else comes up.

I am sure you will see him at the spring game and of course we will be at a few games next year.

Thanks for the post surgery update. So very glad to hear that it went well. Give Corey our best and know that he is thought of often!! It would be AWESOME if he could help out with the team this next year! His leadership and experience would be very valuable to any player on the team!!!! When is he expected to graduate?

Corey is in the education program and since many of the student teaching and observation requirements happen during the afternoons, he is behind on those classes. As a player they are not allowed to schedule any classes that fall between 2-6pm during the day. So he has had to fore go some of his required courses. He should be able to complete everything by the end of the fall term 2009. Personally if nothing comes up, I would like to see him stay and continue school working towards his masters. I know how hard it is to return to school after you have been out working for a number of years. If your in the mode than just get it done now.

Glad to hear the surgery went well...it sounds like he was playing with a lot of pain this year.

So...where is that tool that was on here last year talking trash about Corey's supposed lack of toughness?
