What was urbans stance on staying at bowling green up to the point when he left. Just interested in his MO. He seems to truly love Utah: the program, the facilities, the city and the team. What was he saying about these things at BG before he left??

Yikes, not the time or place for this. . . Check the archives if you want to know. Maybe you could make an urbiespeak dictionary where not=for sure as in "I am not leaving Bowling Green" or I am not leaving Utah. . . .

He was saying EXACTLY the same stuff as he is now and then he went AWOL and there were reports he was visiting Utah and then he was gone. I think the only thing he would be waiting for is to see if Michigan, OSU, or ND jobs open up.

He had just finished negotiating a contract extension two or three days before he left. Does that answer your question?

Don't forget that 2 or 3 days before he left, the BG news printed a quote from him that "I love BG. I want to stay here for a long time," and all that jazz. Next thing I know, I turn on ESPN and he's holding a press conference in Utah. As far as I know, he didn't even tell the players, and he had Coach Brandon read them a letter. Class act all the way.

Yes, that is the way it went down.

He called the notion of him leaving "silly." He also said he never had contact with Utah, while his AGENT was in negotiations with them.

How he left put a bad taste in everyone's mouth. That he is doing it again only shows he did it on purpose, and not because it was a new experience for him.

He is a great football coach. He just doesn't care about the institutions where he coaches or the fans who are in the stands or the players who are there.

That he and Coach Brandon remain friends is mildly troubling to me.

Urban Meyer articles in the BGNews

"If we would have run the table and won a MAC championship, I would have thought 'what else is there?'" Meyer said. "But we didn't. I'm interested in Bowling Green. I have been contacted by one school, but I'm not interested."

"Everybody's worried about those other places; nothings going on," Meyer told the media last week in his final media gathering of the season. "I was contacted by one, but I'm not interested. I love it here. We have a lot of work to do. That's the bottom line. The future is fantastic here . . . I'm proud to be the football coach here."

Now now, I know Urban has a poor track record with loyality and what not, but let's see how this plays out. I am one of the many who feels like they got stabbed in the back by what he did two years ago too. However if he does do the same thing to Utah and leave for a bigger pond, I will be one of the first in line to defame, deface, and otherwise gripe about Urban's shady charater. I'm just one who is naive and would rather wait and see what happens before jumping to conclusions.

The sad thing is that Urban told the Utah folks that he couldn't understand why the players did not "wish him well" after he announced he was leaving. The way I hear it is that Urban didn't even say anything to the player other than, "I'm leaving" and he walked out of the room. Does he not recall that he never so much as gave those guys an explanation or well wishes in their future.

Geez!!!

OK. Enough on Urban...I should not have let this thread distract me from the most important thing today.

BEAT THE TEAM UP NORTH!!! :supz:

O&B, if you say something, it tends to be true. But I don't recall this.

This is my memory: The one job UM kept referring to not being interested in was the Wyoming opening. Supposedly, the Utah job came up all of a sudden -- after he had made those sweeping statements to the media about how happy he was to be in Bowling Green.

I don't say that to defend UM. He lied to us. Damn fine coach, but no Utah fan should trust the things he is saying right now.

I actually heard that recently, maybe on the radio or something. Perhaps it was mistaken. He did use an agent--I remember that story made the media.

His agent is the same guy in Hilton Head, SC that Lou Holtz uses.

Here's what I heard....

From an fellow falcon fan at the Frickers Coaches Show last night. Supposedly Urban's wife really loves the Utah mountains out there. So deduce what you want from that, but if Urban's wife has the kind of influence on her husband that all of us thought , he might be just there at Utah alot longer than we think. But who knows. Stranger things have happened.

GO BG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRUSH BANCROFT HIGH!!!!!!!!!! :supz: :supz: :supz:
