6-5, 230 lbs. Nice! This recruiting class is looking pretty good! It seemed like after the coaching change that a very promising class fell apart, but it seems as though a very promising class has been re-established. So far, so good for Coach Clawson.

A d-back/QB from Warren, Ohio has signed as well. He's a very good athlete. Rumor a 6'3" 235 lb Fullback/TE from the Youngstown area is on his way too.

Ht: 6'5" Wt: 217
Farrington is a tall kid who should be able to pack on serious bulk once he gets into a college weight program. Displays a solid get-off. He can be a physical kid and does a good job of taking on blocks when he stays low. At his height he is a bit leverage disadvantaged and needs to be sure to bend at the knees. He needs to be more consistent with shooting his hands when taking on blocks. Tends to keep his elbows by his side and you would like to see him use his reach and separate more. He is bigger and more physical kid than most of his opponents now, but could have some problems at the next level if he lets blockers into his body. Does a good job of getting hands on blocks and squeezing down. Plays with a good motor. Displays solid speed. He is a solid tackler. As a pass rusher he will come hard and try and bull rush his way to the quarterback. When he stays low he can knock a blocker back into the pocket. Needs to work to develop moves to help him more quickly get around blocks and not just try and go down the middle of a blocker. Farrington is a kid with some solid upside. Needs to fill out his frame and keep developing some parts of his game, but could develop into a tough defensive end especially against the run.

That's an interesting scouting report. You would expect a kid that tall and lanky to depend on his athleticism as a speed rusher at the HS level. That makes it sound like he's actually the exact opposite preferring to bull rush his way to the passer. If they can teach him some speed moves it could come in quite handy that he's already using the bull rush.

Now that I think about it, with that height and size, maybe teaching some of those speed moves would make him a good OLB in some instances. Imagine a 6'5" linebacker running behind another good sized defensive end ... that may work nicely. Didn't Briggs sometimes line up at OLB?

What , a 6'5 and potentially 240lb OLB rushing the qb? I'm salivating already.
