Looking through today's PD with a rather comprehensive list of kids signing, one thing really jumps out... BALL ST. has signed more kids from NE Ohio than any other MAC school and tied OSU.with FIVE recruits from the PD reading area... Miami has 4, Akron and UT 3 each, BG,Buffalo,KSU with 2 each, CMU and OU with 1 apiece.
Haven't looked at BSU's totals recently, but I remember seeing several more verbals from Ohio earlier. They're really hitting the state hard and having success doing it quite obviously.

Stan Parrish is a former coach from Parma, and I'm assuming he still has quite a few HS coaches as contacts.... interesting.

They signed 12 from Ohio, 5 or 6 from Indiana, 2 from Fla. and one each from Kansas and Missouri.

They must be idiots for recruiting the midwest so heavily.

Doesn't surprise me anymore. As much as people in Indiana think their high school football is something special, it really isn't.

This is nothing new. Many of Ball State's best players are from Ohio. If my memory serves me correctly, they had about 30 players from Ohio on their roster last year.

Their top receiver after Love went down last season was Briggs Osborn, a true freshman from Convoy Crestview(same high school as Kory Lichtensteiger). Just off the top of my head I know they had a Puthoff kid from St. Henry and I believe Ifft from Dover. Their DC under Hoke was from the Defiance area.

Dan Ifft, indeed, from Dover High School. I was hoping like hell BG would get Ifft since Dover is my alma mater. Perci Garner, QB, is another kid from Dover. He is similar to Josh Harris...only throws more than he rushes. With Nate Davis off to the NFL, I hope Garner gets a chance to play.

From what I've seen, he's pretty good and built pretty well, but I haven't seen enough of him to know if he's great. That and the school he played for is one of the darlings of the Indy media, so the attention might be distorted a bit, too.

Like TG, I am not sure. The mention of the city of Carmel makes me want to puke, even though my wife is from there. My point probably didn't make much sense unless you live here and have to listen to talk about how strong Indiana high school football is. With that being said, Mr. Football in any state is still something special (ie. Cole Magner). If he played high school football in Ohio or PA, would he be Mr. Football?

I would say no.

I did hear an interview with this kid. He said he wanted to play college in the best conference and the Big Ten wasn't a strong consideration.
