Brandon to Illinois
Footballscoop.com reports Greg Brandon as a candidate. They correctly called UM going to Utah. While he may interview at Illinois, look for him to head west.

I don't think he's leaving...at least I hope he's not. He's done a good job so far. He hasn't been perfect, but I think we're moving in the right direction.
As more of the resources are made available (SAC, increased bowl opportunities, more $$$ for assistants) results will continue to improve.
The simple fact of the matter is, there's more to keep a coach here than there was even two years ago..

Brandon will stay. He's still an OC and won't be a head coach until he learns motivational skills. I think we should send him to the same leadership training that Hoepner went to a few years ago. It worked for him.
Running the clock out to end the half? WTF?
I hope this doesn't hurt recruiting too bad. We need LB's bad.

I couldn't believe that either...and then when we realized they were still giving us yards it was too late because there was only time for one play left. That was total BS....we should have at least had a chance for three before the half. We should have scored 40 something that half....but there we go on the coulda, shoulda, woulda's....we simply got our asses handed to us...and certainly by a lot more than the final score indicated.Cork wrote:Running the clock out to end the half? I believe it's called the "Recruit Ben Roethlisberger And Watch Him Become The Best Player In College Football" leadership training school.Cork wrote:I think we should send him to the same leadership training that Hoepner went to a few years ago. It worked for him.
It also doesn't hurt Hoeppner that Miami gets to load up on a bunch of meatballs in the MAC East...
I can't believe how down everybody is on coach Brandon. Good lord, guys, we lost a football game. It sucks. I'm embarrassed.
But this stuff happens. As much as it pains me to say it, Toledo's got a damn good football team.
I'm proud of coach Brandon. I think he's done an awesome job. If they win that game last night, we're all sitting around this morning talking about how great our team is. 15 minutes of train-wreck football doesn't mean Gregg Brandon can't coach.
I'm not as cool as Tony Gaver, nor will I ever be.
But we have seen this same train wreck when we played NIU, so question of coaching are bound to come up.Tommy Glantz Is A Sniper wrote:I believe it's called the "Recruit Ben Roethlisberger And Watch Him Become The Best Player In College Football" leadership training school.Cork wrote:I think we should send him to the same leadership training that Hoepner went to a few years ago. I, for one, do not base my opinions of coach Brandon on last night's game. Last night's game only further re-enforced the opinions that I've had for the past year and a half. Brandon is a great strategist, and one heck of an offensive coordinator. His is not a great head coach.

Fair enough. I'm not really sure I agree with you, but that's a reasonable opinion.hammb wrote:I, for one, do not base my opinions of coach Brandon on last night's game. It just seems to me that if Omar had been his usual pin-point accurate self last night, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

you guys should get a coach that's getting old and sent his kids to the school he coaches (like Hoeppner)...he's not going anywhere. Stop hiring these young aspiring types and you might not have to deal with this revolving door coaching cycle.
I can't resist pointing out that we beat Toledo this year. Also, what do you call EMU, CMU, WMU, and BSU??It also doesn't hurt Hoeppner that Miami gets to load up on a bunch of meatballs in the MAC East...
