.......nice lead at halftime, then we get dismantled in the second half....I'm speechless. I have to wonder if we thought we had it won. Major credit to Toledo, they did the same thing against NIU, second half adjustments against BG and NIU pay off big time.

one word for this game

CHOKE

owell guys, if you look at it, we were the spoilers, i truly believe we will still get a bowl shot and next year is OUR year! we have a serious shot at beating wisconsin and boise and then we should have NIU and UT at home. lets be proud of this year but be optimistic about our shot next year...its looking good for us!

The disturbing trend continues of not being able to handle adversity on the road against a good team. When things began to unravel in the 3rd quarter it seemed everyone was looking to someone else to make a big play. I don't know if its coaching or a lack of leadership but I hope they get it fixed.

I said to Michelle that I wouldn't get on AZZ tonight because I am still probably too emotional to post rationally, but if we want to have a shot at beating teams like Wisconsin, Boise, NIU, and Toledo next season, we had better do something about our defense. We gave up 42 points in one half of football tonight ... OUCH. Granted, our offense left the defense on the field for most of the second half because they didn't really do anything until it was too late, but still ... 42 points?!?

Ed,
I think you hit the nail ont he head when mentioning the offense in relation to the defense's performance. Our defense is not designed to be able to stop people consistently. Our defense only works when the offense is scoring. Our defense allows yards and some points, but has the philosphy that that is acceptable since we expect our offense to score a TD every time it has the ball. When the offense gets stopped for any amount of time, out defense looks horrendous because they are not designed to win the game for us. The offense id supposed to do that. Our defense never stepped up this year when the offense had some problems and that is why we lost to NIU and Ut.

What makes you think that? We haven't won a road game against a decent opponent since Purdue of last year. It is becoming apparent that the Purdue game was an aberration from what we should expect with this program.

Hit the nail on the head. Our defense is not that salty as we'd like to think. Our small size hurt again in this game. Our D thinks that letting the opposition put up points here and there wont hurt us cuz we score every 2 minutes or so. That never works against good teams.
