My karma came up short: In the immediate aftermath ...

It's tough to come up with words after watching that third quarter and seeing the whole thing implode.

Despite me trying to calm him down, Noah cried himself to sleep tonight. He said he should have gone to Toledo, because BG would have won if he were there. Who am I to argue?

Two quick points, because that's all I have in me tonight ...

1) I still hate Toledo, but they won this game. Period. No fluke. They were down by 20 points at half, stayed calm, made adjustments and steamrolled us in the second half. We can talk all we want about the two long passes that could've gone for TDs, or the field goals that we missed, but they made more plays than we did. It's that simple. Made me sick, but you have to take your medicine like a man.

2) I'm incredibly proud to be a Falcon fan. This team started of 1-2 and put together a great run right through the first half of tonight's game. And they never gave up, battling right to the very end (at least from what I could tell. ESPN2 cut to the Kansas basketball game in Philly early in the fourth quarter and I ended up following the rest of the game on the Web site. Gee, thanks.) The team consistently carried itself with class throughout the season and represents my alma mater in a manner that makes me proud to wear orange and brown. Despite the loss, I hope a bowl offers a bid, because that's the way our seniors deserve to go out.

As tough as this loss is for us fans, I can only imagine the disappointment in that locker room tonight and the longest 30-minute bus ride imaginable.

87 - Tell Noah it's only a game. As the football program is fun to be a part of, the education that he will get and the friends that he will make at BG (when he's there) will by far outweight any loss in a football game.

He was more upset for the seniors than anything, I think. Don't get me wrong, he understands the rivalry and was upset that we lost, but he really lamented the fact that this could be the last time our seniors take the field. He had a chance to meet Cole Magner and Shaun Suisham (and get his picture taken with them) and that meant an awful lot to him. We also spent a lot of time with Andrew Hart's mom and we've discussed all that Andrew's battled through over the years. So Noah has a real soft spot for Andrew (we prayed all summer for Andrew's legs to heal).

I want a bowl bid for a lot of pragmatic reasons (extra practice time, good for recruiting, etc.), but I know that it would mean a lot to see our seniors go out in a bowl game rather than the nightmare we all lived through last night.

The look on the players' faces coming out of the stadium said it all. The disappointment level was at levels I've rarely seen...matter of fact the OSU and Marshall losses were about the only ones in the last 4 years that come close. A very difficult time but it happens in this game. We can't always win but they still make me extremely proud to be Falcon.

One more game....I'm not ready to pack up the equipment yet and guys like Cole, Keon, Scotty, Jovon, Andrew, Daniel, TJ, Shaun, James, Cornelius, Todd, Andy, Gavin, Andy and Ryan deserve a bowl game. Call it biased but it's the way most of us see this.

BOWL BID!! BOWL BID!!! BOWL BID!!!!

Shaun needs a bowl game to put that PAT record a little farther out of reach!!! :D
