"For all the bowls out there, this team deserves a bowl game," he said of the Falcons. "I'm going to champion my football team. We've won eight games, and we've won some big games. I hope some bowls are listening."
We won some big games? Well, we won some games big. Maybe its a typo.

Well, we won some big ones last year....
I think we should get a bid if there's a 4th one out there. We can beat decent teams from other conferences, it's the MAC teams that shred us...

We don't deserve a bowl game. Yes, we won 8 games and have an 8-3 record, but I'm not convinced that its that great of a season. All we have done is win 7 games against 7 of the worst 15 teams in all of college football, and we beat one mediocre team in Marshall. 3 losses against the 3 quality teams we have played.

I hate to say this but I agree with you. We don't deserve and won't get a bowl bid . A discrace in the 2nd half last night.
I love my alma matter just as much as the rest of you here but i just don't see a bowl selecting us. Hopefully I'm wrong....

I do as well, but I cannot help thinking that it will just be backing into a bowl in a flukey year where there are few bowl eligible teams, and 2 of those are declining invites.

It is my feeling that Toledo will go to the Motor City Bowl, Miami to Alabama, and Northern out to California. If there is a 4th MAC Bowl team, you'd figure it would have to be BG over Akron or Marshall.....although the Bowls like Marshall so we might get screwed. But anyway, our only hope is that a spot in the Fort Worth Bowl is open. Otherwise I don't see it happening.

Just checked collegefootballnews.com and they updated their bowl predictions. They have us going to the Houston bowl against Colorado. They have Akron

going to the SVFC.

I don't trust CFN.com.
Let me try to make it simple.
Teams to root against this weekend are listed below. If three of these teams lose, we should be a lock for a bowl game:
Nebraska (5-5) game left vs. Colorado. Huskies get automatic berth should they win.
Arkansas (5-5) game left vs LSU. Hogs get automatic berth should they win.
Syracuse (5-5) game left at Boston College. Orange get an automatic berth or an at-large should they win.
Southern Miss (5-4) games left vs UAB & Cal. USM gets one of the CUSA slots if they win one more game.
South Florida (4-5) games left vs. Memphis and Pitt.
Again, I've kept this simple. It's a bit more complex. I am assuming for the sake of argument that South Florida and/or Troy (now eligible) would bump Bowling Green from a bowl game. That may not be the case.
Bottom line: I like our chances.

Don't tell me that we don't deserve a bowl! That is selfishness and it makes me sick. These young men deserve a bowl - they played their hearts out all season - AND LAST NIGHT! They never quit - yes, we ended up on the losing end. Many things could have been different throughout the entire game. There is no doubt about that. But for BG to go to a bowl and have the chance to play one more game - for these seniors! for the fans! for recruiting!!!!! If we go to a bowl - you are not invited if you said or think we don't deserve a bowl. In fact - take your name and account off of the Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba website. You don't deserve to be on here either. THIS SITE IF FOR FANS - NOT BANDWAGON RIDERS!
So - shut the crap up and support our men (and women of BGSU for that matter). I wish we would have won - I beat Toledo three times in the 90's - TWICE AT THEIR PLACE! It is worth it - and we will get our chance again against them in a year - at our place. Paybacks are a mutha chucker.

So did 117 other I-A teams.
Don't tell me how to be a fan. I guess I don't have the blind loyalty gene.

Plenty of teams go bowling each year that don't deserve to. Plenty of MAC teams have stayed home that deserved to go bowling.
I'll take what we can get this year, and I'll be there. If we get matched against a Memphis or a Colorado or a Minnesota, I think we can win.
Arguing about whether we deserve a bowl game is fruitless.
I agree with O&B: There are three other teams in our league that deserve bowl games a little more than we do.
As for FalkinCruiser: O&B doesn't deserve a lecture from the likes of you. O&B is the epitome of a good fan.

Nobody is telling you how to be a fan. I think reading your other posts, most people are trying to encourage you not to take a dive off the deep end.
Good lord people, I hate that school more than all the people here combined, but even I'm not about to give weight to anything that school does by delving into overkill about the loss.
If we don't "deserve" a bowl it basically writes off everything done this year, and frankly does a disservice to the program to imply it. Teams lose games, and our team did. I'm a fan of my alma mater. I do not live and die by single games, lousy as it is to drop one to certain other programs.
Relax, if anybody here is that bitter go surf someplace else and come back in a week.
That said, Grant, does this board software have a private room feature, maybe we need one titled "The Curse Jar." Let folks vent in peace.

I never said we didn't deserve a bowl bid. I said if we got a fourth, we deserved that one, and not one of the first three.

I think it depends on whom we are against for the third bid. NIU should get a bid before us. The winner of the title game should get a bowl. The runner-up is not an automatic choice above us regardless. Though advocating BG over Miami is less of a task than the alternative.
