We needed a DC. We made an offer. It was his to accept or refuse. Why should this come back on Clawson?

You gotta love these one post bandits who are probably too scared to post under their "real" user name.

Anyway, welcome to college football...not unusual in the least IMHO.

Glad you asked...... go read:

Clawson and UTC head coach, Huesman, were best of friends, Huesman was Clawson's confidant...even during his demise at UT last year. Hesman hires Elko, two months later, his best friend takes him away. How does this make Huesman look in front of his new team, coaches and fans!

Stonewall,
I understand your feelings, but, if you look at how MANY people have left UTC in recent years...I'm just wondering if the pay scale, work conditions, facilities etc. have just as much to do with things...Trainer left to become a HC at another school AFTER he was HIRED by BG...should you be upset with him too, for leaving us after committing? Unfortunately, this IS the way of college athletics in this day and age...And Clawson's/Huesman's "friendship" should not suffer because ANOTHER guy decided to leave for what he perceives as a better position. If I recall correctly, we lost a DC a few years ago (Can't recall name) under similar circumstances.

This is more common than might think. I think this thread is pointless.

Don't work in the business world, do you SpiderPlant?

I'm not sure I see the "Dave Clawson is a lying, cheat, biggoted, Bush-loving, pedophile, anti-Chryst!" [sic]

About the only explaining that I see Clawson needs to do is why he picked his friend to be the defensive coordinator. He was in a pinch, late in the hiring season and needed a guy. Did he actually look for the best he could get or just go after one he thought he could get. That other crap about a coach leaving a job after two months is irrelevant.

You missed the point....it is not about Elko taking a job afte two months......it is about the classy Clawson guy stabbing his friend (Huesman, who just became a head coach at Chattanooga)) in the back!

Isn't the first time something like this has ever happened and it won't be the last time

I guess I'm still just really confused as to why Clawson needs to explain himself or apologize...I don't know much about the DC that he just hired as this is the first time I've heard of him...but in any case, Clawson hasn't done anything that has made me doubt any of his decisions yet. It's the way businesses run, you get the people that will get the job done and put friendships aside...if you don't like it, tough...that's the real world for ya

This line stuck out to me....

Elko’s replacement will be the Mocs’ fifth defensive coordinator in the past 14 months.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With that sort of turnover, I don't think anyone can take this move to heart that much.

Exactly, in this business I don't think you can begrudge anyone for taking a better job.

And since your axe is severely ground now I think we can just about lock this thread.
