....we might be picked over. Since the SVC has added the MAC into its fold this year, they pretty much can choose right now between a team like BG or NIU if they want. Both BG and NIU are done playing and can accept an invite right now if they wanted to. I think UT and Miami are bound for the MCB and GMAC Bowls. I've got to think that if they are going to invite, the longer we wait, the less likely we get a shot. If a fourth slot is to open up, it will probably be another wait for that because they are going to make sure they can't fill with teams like Nebraska, Arkansas, Syracuse or some of these C-USA schools that can still get in. That's just my take.
GO BG!!!
I think the MCB takes the title winner this time. I think NIU goes to GMAC, and it becomes a toss-up between the title game loser and BG. If there is a fourth bid, it depends on which game it is, and what team drops the title game.
If "they" lose the title game, I think BG winds up more appealing despite the loss last night. If Miami drops the game, we have a modest edge over them.

I think Toledo will go to GMAC bowl. Miami will go to to MCB. Some reports show Akron going out west to the Silicon Valley, some show Northern. I would definately take Northern over Akron. Northern over BG because they beat us. CFN has us playing in the HOUSTON bowl against, Brandon's old coaching school, Colorado. Now that would be a great matchup.
BG Vs Colorado.
If it came down to Akron, BG or Northern, I would like to see Northern go because they got screwed two years now and they beat both us and Akron.

I've explained in another thread why I believe we will be going to a bowl game. If there are no upsets this weekend and three of these teams lose:
-- Nebraska (to Colorado)
-- Arkansas (to Louisiana State)
-- Syracuse (to Boston College)
-- South Florida (to Memphis)
... then we are a lock for a bowl game. That's not rose-colored glasses. That's reality.
Further, it may not take three of those teams to lose. Two losses on that list might be enough if one assumes a bowl would prefer to have us over Troy, which is now eligible at 7-4, and/or South Florida, which still has to beat Pittsburgh to become eligible even if they beat Memphis.
I can think of a couple of reasons for the delay.
Here is one: If the bowls wait until Saturday, no MAC team is tagged with the label of fourth in.
As hard as it may be to believe, it very well may be that a bowl game would prefer to have us over another one of the four MAC teams in the mix. By waiting until this weekend, all of this can be settled at once.

I certainly hope you are right and all the stars align for us. But I can't get my hopes up and have them all dashed again like they were last night. I'll give myself an ulser if I sit around and talk myself into deserving a bid. I will happily eat crow if I'm wrong....

Schadenfreude: As usual, you are the voice of reason.
BG & Toledo employ high-scoring offenses, which provides something for a bowl to market. NIU has a great team, but it's tough to market an 8-3 mid-major than runs a relatively bland offense and leans heavily on its defense. From a marketing standpoint, you can do that with an Ohio State, but ...
