hello my fine feathered friends... :D

our local paper is reporting that our game with toledo will be replaced due to scheduling issues (sound familiar?)

and bowling green is mentioned as the likely replacement. the paper doesn't say where the game is, but our toledo game was supposed to be AT toledo, so my guess is that this game will be at your place.

i hope this happens. it's only fair that you've played at our place twice already and we haven't returned the favor.

what are your thoughts?

I would be cool with playing at The Blue if we could get some nice cash for it. Maybe you haven't heard, but we're going through some financial difficulties here in BG

I think we'd love to finally play you guys at the Doyt.

Although it feels like we've had a home game scheduled with Boise St. 2-3 different times and it's never surfaced (due to MAC scheduling & whatnot).

From the Idaho Statesman:

Boise State and the Mid-American Conference are putting together a deal for the Broncos to play at Bowling Green this season instead of Toledo, Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier said. Bowling Green is just outside Toledo, so it's virtually the same trip.

The deal would move the Toledo game to 2011 in place of the Broncos' game at Bowling Green, but it hasn't been completed, Bleymaier said.

Toledo is scheduled to play in Boise in 2010. A Toledo spokesman confirmed the Rockets plan to play both games against the Broncos.

This mess started with Miami of Ohio scheduling a 13th game and dropping Colorado. That sent the MAC scrambling to find Colorado an opponent, which will be Toledo, and then Boise State an opponent.

The Broncos beat Bowling Green in 2005 and 2008 in Boise. They were scheduled to play at Bowling Green in 2006 and 2007, but both those games were scrapped because of MAC scheduling problems.

Bowling Green returns to Boise in 2012.

Nice comments on that story. Do they forget that we played them as well as or better than most teams that come to Boise?

Where does this leave Wyoming and what is the situation with Toledo? Are they at Colorado or will it be in Toledo? If there's a payday involved that Toledo backed into from the league's shuffling, will that get distributed across the conference? What a mess.

Either way, it will be good to finally get Boise St. into the Doyt. For the sake of those who posted on that site, I hope we kick their blue azzes.

I'm in favor of playing in Boise, but that's just because a tank of gas costs much less than a plane ticket

hi TG,

i admit, we do have some major tools that post on the statesman. most are bandwagon fans who think we're SEC material these days. and a lot of the venom is a result of people thinking our scheduling needs to beef up... tough to do when BCS teams demand only one game at their place, and in boise's case, "their place" is usually a thousand or two miles away.

but the boise state fans that i know do respect the Falcons, and have since before we played the first game with Omar visiting Boise.

it did suck that the MAC scheduling issues resulted in us not making the return game. non-BCS teams need to stick together, IMO. there's no room for elitism when we're all stuck in the same idiotic system where 1/2 the teams who start the year have zero chance at winning a title.

p.s. i didn't know about the financial difficulties. that sucks for all of us; we're experiencing that, as well, though likely not at the level you are. best of luck with turning things around, tho.

For the record, as best I can remember everyone from Boise that has stopped by here has been first class. What I posted wasn't with you guys in mind.

We know what you mean about scheduling. We've done all right from time to time to bring bigger schools in, but not with any regularity.

Good luck to you guys next year (except, of course, for one apparent date in September!) :D

The Boise fans who have visited here have been great...I'm looking forward to getting the chance to meet them!

We usually get one or two major tools from every school's fanbase around here (that number is a good bit higher when we play Ohio State) but the Boise people have been tool free.

Could anyone ever surpass the douchery exhibited by that clown from USF...I forget his name...that plagued us back in 2002?

Ohio State has a much higher douchebag to normal fan ratio than most teams

Boise State at the Doyt instead of WY? Nothing against the Cowboys and I'd like to see them play here but it would be great to get BSU over here in the Eastern Time Zone. :-D

I have a ton of respect for BSU and what they've done...and their fans are always cool.

We'll see if this all pans out. Troy, Missouri, Marshall and Boise State...pretty rugged non Conf sked but winnable games. I like it a lot.

Spring game only 5 weeks away...Roll Along.

After our AMAZING trip out to Boise this past fall, I can't wait to see us play Boise again! People out in Boise were amazing - nobody was rude in any way, lots of compliments all around, and we left with smiles on our faces ... and a ring on April's finger too!

Best info I have is that Colorado will play in the Glass Bowl. Always good to get BCS teams at home but right now I don't think Colorado has the cache that Boise does. I'd rather see Boise-plan to be there next year for the UT game.

Bowling Green will be hosting Boise State this fall.

Toledo will be hosting Colorado this fall instead of Boise State. This will be a one game deal, so Toledo does not have to play a game at Colorado.

Toledo will play at Boise State in 2010 as scheduled, and then Boise State will do the return trip to Toledo in 2011.

So Toledo still gets our home and home with Boise State, plus a home game with Colorado to be aired on one of the ESPN channles. Also, Bowling Green finally gets that home game from Boise State that they had been screwed out of twice before. A win-win for both UT and BG.

rf,

If this is all true, both BG and UT definitely win in this scenario.
