BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University head football coach Dave Clawson has announced the hiring of Mark Carney, Mike Elko and Adam Scheier to complete his coaching staff for the 2009 season.

Carney will coach the wide receivers, while Elko will serve as the team's co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach and Scheier will be the co-special teams coordinator and tight ends coach."

Jeez, we have a ton of co-coordinators on this staff. Next thing we'll hear is that the entire team has been designated co-captain.

I think there may be method to the madness. Think of it as testing who really will prove the best for the job. If he picks somebody, he would have to fire them from the gig, and demote them to something else. Doing that in the middle of a year, if needed, has a negative mental effect on the staff and players.

Maybe that wasn't the intent, but I can see how it could work for the best.
