Elder junior TE Alex Welch (6-4, 220) has been offered by Florida State, according to Elder coach Doug Ramsey. Welch also has offers from Stanford, UC, Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois, Bowling Green, Boston College, Wake Forest, Maryland, Northwestern, North Carolina State and Indiana.

I'd rather see the coaches offer these kids than have the attitude of "why bother". If we don't offer them anything then we really don't have a chance.

Agreed. If they say "No thanks", so be it. But at least go for some of the best players.

seems as if the new "regime" has more interest in TE's than we've seen in quite awhile, based on other offers being made etc.

From watching practice last Friday, I can see the need for tight ends. It seems as if we are incorporating more elements of a pro-style offense. That means more emphasis on the running game, more use of tight ends, and ... :shock: ... working out of under center! I thought I was going blind when I saw it!

I agree. Just picked up a Florida State offer and that won't be the last big time offer either. Give him the offer that's fine, but spend most of your personal time with kid's you have a better than 0.00001% chance of landing.

FB? TE? What positions are those? I didn't know colleges were allowed to use those spots!
