Phone call from Coach

Went home for lunch today and I had a prerecorded (assuming) phone call from Coach Clawson asking me to purchase my season tickets before the early deadline to benefit from the Doyt bucks offer. Prerecorded or not, I thought it was a nice gesture on the part of the Athletic Department.

I thought it was Obamamama telling me that change and a check were coming.

I got the same call, too. Even though it was pre-recorded, I thought it was a fantastic move for the new coach, on behalf of the AD, make that kind of outreach to fans.

I'm sure cowboyjoe (assuming he is a season ticket holder) was sent into mouth-frothing convulsions when he got it, but I think it was a great thing to do for every other season ticket holder. We need more of this type of outreach across the athletic department - I would imagine that hockey would benefit greatly from something similar.

Classy thing to do....pre recorded or not. The outreach is so important at the beginning of Coach Clawson's career here. We have a great home sked, a lot of talent around here and a lot to look forward to...

GO FALCONS!

Yeah, it was pretty cool. Good idea by the Athletic Department.

Assuming I'm a season ticket holder? I've been a season ticket holder in football and baseball for over 15 years. I saw coach Clawson at Walmart and talked to him there about the season ticket issue. I jokingly asked how he was to improve on 30 points a game. He said it wouldn't be easy.

Sorry season ticket holder in football and basketball---not baseball.

For the record cowboyjoe, I was just joking. In retrospect I neglected to use emoticons.

I still think you need to get over your man-crush on Gregg, though. :P

i know...people just don't understand that I have a "man-crush" on averaging 30 points a game. I don't want this to end up like we were with the teams before Urban.

Do you have any stats beside 30 points a game to show that Brandon was a good coach? Coaches get fired for not winning or letting the program's academic standards slip, not based on how many points they score

He took BG to more bowl games than Moe Ankney and Urban Meyer combined.

He also won as many MAC Championships as Moe Ankney and Urban Meyer combined

Gregg Brandon accomplished some things here..the program advanced under his leadership.

However....more could have been done. I think that's the saddest thing about his tenure here. Last season could have been a really special season...it should have been a really special season, but it wasn't.
It seems like Brandon's teams did the best when the least was expected of them (streak that closed 2008) and the worst when more was expected of them.

Couple that with the off field stuff and you get sent packing...

Exactly. Brandon's teams consistently folded when the expectations were the highest. Winning when nobody expects you to is great, but you need to win the big games when the lights are the brightest. His teams were not able to get that done, and that is why he's no longer here.

Coach Clawson doesn't need to improve on the amount of points BG scores...he needs to improve the amount of points that BG gives up on Defense. Offense should not be a problem for this team. They HAVE to step up the D!
