Houston Bowl?

Post by jjwasil »

If this happens it is great news:

http://collegefootballnews.com/2004/Bow ... ctions.htm

They have us playing against Colorado in the Houston bowl. The page was updated today so I can only assume it takes into account our loss to UT.

Doing some research I have also discovered that the Houston Bowl's payout is 1.1 Million dollars. After winning the Motor City Bowl we got 800,000. This means we are in a better bowl this year than we were last year if things work out. So if this happens and we can knock off Colorado it will def. be a HUGE boost for our athletic department.

But what the hell...who knows what will happen

The other teams in our league, and yes, the MCB counts like that, too. The main advantage of being in the bowl is the extra practices and the exposure. They are not the financial boon people think.

I'll add a post, though.

The WAC has three bowl-eligible teams and three bowls. With Texas-El Paso out of the mix and Boise State likely to get out too, Fresno State is the only WAC team that may end up in a WAC bowl.

And Fresno State doesn't want to play in San Jose again.

The alternatives for Fresno State right now are Hawaii (against a Conference USA team) or Boise (against an ACC team, maybe Georgia Tech).

If it's up to Fresno State, I wonder if they would choose the snow for the chance to play an ACC team. They've got to be sick of bowling in northern California. They've been doing it for 25 years.
