By the NCAA for failure to meet the 15,000 attendance requirement.
8 schools are involved (6 from the MAC - Miami, Central, Eastern, Ball State, Kent, & Buffalo).
One interesting aspect of this report is that attendance is now being audited against the announced attendance. At the Miami/Ohio U game there was a 7,000 difference in the announce and auduted figures. There is the possibility of more schools being added to the list after audited figures are announced.
Miami's numbers are based on audited figures while the other MAC schools are announced attendance. Has anyone heard how we are stacking up on our audited figures ??
Failure to meet the requirement again in a 10 year period results in restricted membership which eliminates (football) post season play and if you don't make it that year the school's football team falls back to another division. (other sports stay the same)
Could the MAC Championship be decided by attendance figures ?
NCAA board of directors ordered a review of this rule in October. It has been mentioned before how the BCS would like to get rid of some of the little players - here it comes
